I thought Navarro was excellent again last night, most improved player of the season by far I would say, hardly gives the ball away, can play quick incisive passes, and tackles very well giving excellent cover to the defence. One of Gus' first names on the team sheet I would imagine, long may it continue.

He was a KING. Yet again he proves the doubters wrong. How many times does he have to prove himself before people understand how good a player he is?

Spot on! He really helped the defense last night and some of his passes were very good indeed. Definitely deserves a new contract imo

Navarro was superb last night; my MoM by a distance. Hardly lost the ball, was everywhere, linked up with the other midfielders, always made himself available. He hit that shot from outside the area TOO well, but at least it didn't send someone in Row Z into panic...

The main difference between him and Bridcutt was that in just about every instance, he was looking to turn and move the ball forward, rather than Bridcutt's default setting of sideways or backwards.

I really like Navarro as he does the simple things very well and has worked ever so hard to get to the level he is playing at. Perhaps he falls short from a creative point of view, however.

The most annoying thing about Navarro is that he gets stroppy with his team mates when they make mistakes. I really don't like seeing that.

I love seeing that. An experienced pro who has come through the ranks of a top Premiership club should have very high standards, which he evidently does. Nothing wrong with the odd bollocking being dished out, keeps everyone on their toes.

I don't mind it. It's not about that irritating mantra of 'well, at least he cares...' cos that's bollocks.

It's because some of them need some strop to pull their f***ing socks up.

Haven't noticed him going over the top with "advice" too much myself.

Greer on the other hand is always ready to give someone a rollicking, even when he was to blame!

It depends why you're bollocking them. Getting arsey at a misplaced pass under pressure is shite. Dishing out a bollocking for not tracking back is not.

It's a fine line I agree. I've played quite a bit and I've been guilty of it over the years, but I only dish out bollockings to those who I know are capablle of better. He is a senior pro and quite entitled to do this.

A friend of mine sits just near the away dugouts, and heard McDermott talking to one of the subs that came on in the second half, with the instruction "Do the 8". Would like to think that wasn't an instruction to hurt, but an indication that the manager of one of the top teams in the division could also recognise that he was key to how we built up play from the back.
