I'm a huge Mullery fan. In an ideal world we'd name a stand after him but I prefer the simplicity of east, south, west and north.
I met him a few years back and detected an absence of communication with the club - not that he moaned, but I sensed he was somewhat out in the cold.
Put my name down on the petition. Half time guest, hall of fame, collage in Dick's Bar, poem by Atilla ... whatever you like. He's an Albion legend and it's about time we treated him like one.

Agree that Mullers appears to have been a bit of an oversight - unless there is some underlying reason. Was there bad blood with any of the Bloom dynasty? Even so I would like to think it would be time to build some bridges and let the fans have a proper chance to acknowledge his role. Would be good to see him and Nobby Horton lead out that squad.
Not everyone has been overly keen to acknowledge their past association with the Albion - look at Lawro who has been lukewarm to say the least, yet he was one of our most revered and probably best all time defender. Shouldn't stop us inviting him though.
Several other names come to mind but I would nominate Michael Robinson (apologies if this has already happened and somehow passed me by). He was the CMS of his era - always put a shift in and always chased a lost cause for the Albion and came across as a decent guy too. I would be curious to know what Michael makes of our current latin influences at the Club, the Vicente situation etc, given his past expertise on Spanish footie. He would also be an interesting guest on Albion Roar.

I love Mullers and he MUST be invited to the Amex. Personally I would like to see this picture used on the Legends Wall and outside underneath the Cliff face. A true Albion legend and voted best Albion manager of all time in the Argus fan vote about 5 years ago.

When Mullery was sacked Albion were in 15th place in the second division, eight points clear of the relegation zone. Not bad at all.
It's often stated as fact that Mullery's second spell was a disaster but that's mistaken. It was under Barry Lloyd's leadership when the 1986/87 turned into a disaster.

Ah yes but it was the most nailed on relegation I have ever witnessed. Even by thie time he was sacked we knew it would happen.

How can that the case? We were roughly where Peterborough, Crystal Palace, Watford and Ipswich are currently in The Championship. No one seems certain any of those clubs are bound to be relegated.
Earlier this season it seemed like they were trying to keep the half time guest relevant to both teams, though in the last few games it's not been the case that I'm aware of. Perhaps it's not so much a slight, more we haven't had a relevant team? (with palace being to incendiary and tottenham being more about the first home game at our new stadium than the half-time guest.

This was my first Albion poster on my bedroom wall!
He was also the first England player to be sent off which is a shame. Still, great manager.

Barry Lloyd gave Tiltman his debut against Sheffield Utd in the cup AFTER Mullers was sacked! Lloyd was the one that thought Tiltman was a better forward then Saunders!

We did beat Palace 2:0 though just before relegation was confirmed...
It was my first ever match, and I believe it was Barry Lloyd's first win as manager

Really? I must admit, I've walked past the wall outside and just assumed he'd be up ther somewhere, without ever really looking. If he isn't, bearing in mind people like Paul Rogers Guy Butters and Charlie Oatway ARE up there, then that's an absolutely staggering omission by the club. Well, in my opinion anyway.
Even if he'd never got us into the First Division, he should be on the Wall just for THIS
indeed, that very image should used (on a very large window at the front of the stadium)

Mullery was used as pawn in the game to get Lloyd in as manager. They reputedly sacked Mullery because he wouldnt move nearer to Brighton but from where he lived in Banstead I am sure that he could get to Brighton nearly as quick as Lloyd coming from Warren Rd through the A27 traffic and certainly quicker than the Hinshlewood clan from Selsey.
