Swansea have been ordered by a tribunal to pay up to £110,000 to Torquay as compensation for Adebayo Akinfenwa.
The 23-year-old striker moved from Plainmoor to Swansea earlier in July after a long-running transfer saga.

Swansea must pay Torquay an initial £35,000 in two installments, with another £50,000 linked to appearances.

Swansea will have to pay a further £25,000 if they win promotion, while Torquay will receive 15% of any future transfer fee involving Akinfenwa.

The striker scored 16 goals for Torquay last season.

Don't like the idea of instalments and the linking to appearances etc too open to abuse.

WTF can't they just work out a cash figure?

I hope what will swing it for us is the FACT he's an England under 21 international player. That's got to count for quite a lot. Plus we've had him since he was 14; I hope the Football League will think they've got to been seen to be rewarding the "smaller" clubs who produce home grown talent. That said, this is a crucial deal for us, I'm quite nervous. Fingers x'd.

I can't find much info but it doesn't look like he was at Torquay that long, certainly not 8 or nine years anyway.

Swansea must be laughing their nuts off at that price. Thats the trouble with these tribunals sometimes you win (Gareth Barry £1million) and sometimes you lose (John Robinson £75K).

The one that will piss me off is if Leeds get a bargin price because they deserve to be stitched up the way they are splashing the cash whilst only months ago they were on the verge of total finacial ruin due to the way they spent millions buying players.

Hope I'm wrong but I won't be suprised if Bates knows people on the tribunal and that can't be good for us :(
