There doesn't seem to be any cohesion on sentencing. On the one hand you have this woman getting off for sexual activity with a male aged 13 to 17 while in a position of trust.

http://lifestyle.one/closer/news-re...-escapes-jail-despite-affair-male-student-16/

On the other hand you have this case where the woman was totally banged to rights, 11 counts of sexual activity with a child, was jailed today for four years and three months per count.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-392953/Female-teacher-jailed-sex-pupil.html

I was specifically looking at female grooming cases because I wanted to see if they get similar sentences to men.

So, in my opinion personally, I don't think it can be called harsh or lenient because it seems there isn't any real mark to judge from.

There is a small chronological difference. I think the idea is bang them up first time nowadays, cause records show that if they get away with it first time, they may very well try it again (habitual).

Defence made a strategic error in the defence. Idea may be to spare the "victim" from adversarial (confrontation) nature of the British justice system. In France with the inquisitorial justice system and a age of consent of 15, a completely different and better result all around (arguable?).

Quite difficult to pass much judgement on the sentence, or compare it with others, when we only know a small % of the facts of the case, rather than the several days worth of stuff the judge and jury will have seen and heard, the appearance of others in the case, Johnson's performance in court and remorse (none, it appears) etc etc all of which contribute.

Sorry to break it to you but chavs have rights too. That Rotherham paedophile ring thought that chav girls were fair game too.

and apparently so did some of the officials who were begged by those girls to do something to stop it .............wonder what sentence they will get

You're on a fishing trip aren't you? I wasn't sure but capitalising CHAV like it has any relevance whatsoever sealed it.

Also, being close to 16 now would still make it illegal regardless, so...?
The age of consent in Germany is 14, France 15 and lots of other countries.

Just making the point that the Victorian rules in this country has cost a young man 6 years in jail ( pending good behaviour) his high paid career finished for something that is legal 5 miles across the channel. And I also think that certain crimes should have longer sentences than this case such as GBH, ABH, drink driving injuries ect.

He Googled the age of consent, so he knew exactly what he was doing. The only person he can blame is himself, not the law of the land.

If you get caught speeding doing 85 on the motorway do you tell the copper that it's OK because there is no speed limit on the Autobahn?

Good for all of those other countries, such a shame for him that he chose to knowingly break the law in this one, with a girl that he absolutely knew was underage.

I'm noticing that again you seem more concerned with how this damaged his career and future well being over the damage that is appears have done/be doing to the victim.

Even if there are pages after pages of her trying it on, not that anyone knows if that is or isn't the case, it's completely irrelevant. He knew better. He didn't care.

As for other crimes getting longer sentences, who knows, I personally think that prescribing exact sentences for crimes with no regard for the individuality of each is a bad move, though that's just me.

His mistake was that he thought the girl knew as well and was happy to go along with it and not make a fuss.

I wouldn't be surprised if this girl had sexual relations with other people before this, and thought this could earn a tidy compensation sum

Female teaching assistant eventually gets 2 years after originally getting community service after having sex around 50 times

Johnson gets 6 for a cheeky grope

Doesn't add up

That's our justice system for you .

The proesecution will try and persuade the jury and judge it is systematical pre-planned criminal activity (teacher or step parent) and as the defence I would do would be an opportunist aberration.

The prosecution won, it seems. AJ or the defence (or the facts?) committed suicide with their defence. Sentence seems a bit OTT by me, but it maybe the guidelines left no alternative?

Had she been my daughter, I would have broken his legs.
