Looking to watch this from a suitable pub, whilst having some sunshine beers with a female friend who isnt that much into planes

So out of the pubs in the vicinity are they totally rammed with like minded people and what have others done in the past?

Happy to put money in a collection bucket if one appears, but my friend isnt totally taken when i wax lyrical about the Vulcan bomber :)

The obvious ones are the Red Lion and the Amsterdam. Plenty of outside seating, and yes they get rammed, but if you hang around long enough you usually get a table (or a share of one) eventually.

and you will be approached with people waving buckets ..which personally seems fair enough

Not in Whitechapel
I'd personally go for The Bridge. Never been to watch the airshow despite living in Shoreham my entire life, but I'm guessing where it's located would be a pretty good view. Just remember to remortgage your house before you go. Paid £4.85 for a pint in there the other day.

Longshore will be rammed but the car park serves as seating and they do an outdoor BBQ. Should be able to secure a place @ 5am

Bit further afield - but the Piston Broke in the High Street is worth a visit, used to be the Lazy Toad
