That was the hospital dinner bell .

Nah, it was a siren I could hear over in Windlesham Gardens. I believe it was an alarm at the special needs ward out the back that sometimes a patient would let off, or there actually was some sort of emergency.

If the stories from the USA are anything to go by then I'd say it's aliens, plenty of toothless rednecks in Worthing just asking to be anal probed.

If you were given notice of 15 mins to live, would you do anything different or carry on as you were? Imagine being at work ....
And if you did get 15 mins notice, would you be thankful for the opportunity?

Nah. 15 minutes of pissing my pants is something I could do without.

Was just driving through Worthing town centre and definitely heard an air raid siren, followed by an all clear one a minute or 2 later.

WTF is it, and where does it come from ?

Yes, I had a text to the same effect - air raid sirens in Worthing, thought it might be the end of the transition to Silent Hill :)

I was out with the dog from 10:30 to 11:30 over the hills behind Findon and didn't hear anything as I had music playing. However when I got back down to the Gallops another dog walker said an air raid siren had been going off and sounded like it had been coming from different areas each time.

Reading elsewhere, apparently it was connected to a Broadwater C oF E school project about the war.

It was definitely Broadwater C of E School. They are studying World War II and came and apologised to the neighbours in advance of setting the air raid siren off. Apparently it was very loud.
