No way Arsenal are going to get £30m in this market for AMN
18 to 20 million & i reckon we are in the running. He does look to have the versatility Potter almost insists on. Its down to if anyone outbids us or trumps our wages package.
Believe me Arsenal fans will be gutted in these cost cutting measures being implemented, let a young talented player on lowish wages go while bringing in William from Chelsea on astronomical wages and at the back end of his career. We must do some serious swooping.

They might.

He’s worth about £15m imho.
A 22 year old English prospect that's played 100 games for a top 8 premier League club.

30M minimum in a normal market. Just over 20 in a post covid market if we are very lucky.

These aren't the players you're looking for.

ie. he will only be on our list if we have the funds from selling Dunk.

Since we've been in the Premier League we have spent between £50m and £60m each summer. Without selling our best players.

So far this summer we have spent £900k.

If everyone else is holding back due to covid, then now is the time to make up some ground by investing the same sort of sums we have previously, and not tightening our belt.

Covid is likely to have an impact for the next 12 months, but the cost of buying a player is spread over the 4 years of thier contract. So it is a calculated gamble to focus long term.

If we concentrate on adding quality over quantity, we could significantly improve the first team, and pick up a couple of bargains.

This guy, for £30m, may prove to be a steal.

£30m seems OTT.

But is there any evidence player prices have come down in the Covid-19 era??

Jadon Sancho's asking price has reportedly fallen from £110m to £80m, because only one team are bidding.

That may or may not be due to the virus.

That’s a flattering assessment of AMN.
Id say for anything over 20 mill you’d expect something a bit special.
But he’s been a utility player, who’s never established himself.
To give some perspective (and I accept his contract was running down, and much less experience) , Tariq Lamptey cost A reported £3m.
Not saying we shouldnt sign AMN, but we should not push the boat out for him. He’s not shown he’s worth it.
Perhaps a try before you buy would work best,

Good points.

I also realise that it may not be any Dunk fee we are waiting on.

£14 million for Knockaert + £10 million for Duffy = £24 million.

Forgetting his ability, as a business move however he’d be an asset with pretty good re-sale value as well. That’ll be taken into account.

So although £20m + is a lot, there’d be a decent chance to recoup a big chunk of that if needed. We paid £20m for Webster, it does seem reasonable that AMN would cost more.

As always I trust Tony, GP and Dan to make the right move for the club.

We paid nearly 22 million for a championship defender with no Premier league experience and around the same age. AMS has quite a bit of PL experience but cannot establish himself as a first team player. If the right carrot was dangled I think he would be tempted but I dont think we would pay Arsenals 30million price tag. 18 to 20 possible just over but not sure if any other club may bust the bank for him.

Life long Arsenal supporting buddy who’s opinion I trust more than any other: ‘F#%€ing Class Player’ ...was his very simple, succinct reply to my question ‘Ainsley Maitland Niles?’

20m would be alright. A fair price I’d say. Arsenals quoted figure is 30 though. For 30, you’re into a different calibre of player.

You make a good point about Webster. We probably overpaid based on him being sold for peanuts only a year before he joined us. We may develop him into a player worth a lot more, although, yes, the same could be said for AMN

The more I think about this one, the more I think it could be possibility IF, and it's a big IF, the price is right and his wage demands aren't ridiculous.

Ashworth will of course be well aware of his talents, and we could likely offer him a starting slot in his preferred midfield role, as opposed to him being used as a utility player at Arsenal. Reports today seem to suggest Arsenal are going to transfer list him to raise funds, despite Arteta wanting him to stay.

The big problem is the price though.

Otherwise, Potter's faith in youth has been proven last season, so I think we could definitely be an attractive proposition for the player as opposed to some other Prem clubs.

Really think this is worth a punt, even at 30. Signing him after Lallana really changes the way players will see us.

It's not impossible.

Get decent fees for Jahanbakhsh, Duffy, maybe March, even Pröpper and the sums look better...
