..keepers. Boo -hoo. Fifteen years on and almost to the day Hereford United will again have to win to stay in the football league.

And it's not in their hands.

Hmmm.....think about it.

I get the sense Hereford are hating the county of Sussex somewhat less tonight.

and once man utd were shit.....this hereford, gillingham stuff being used as an excuse / smokescreen really irritates me.

maybe we should have not got promoted from league 1 as we were really shit before, and improving quickly from being really shit is not to be done?

People can keep using this 'look how far we've come argument' but we spent £100 million + on a stadium and spent more money than we've ever known on transfers. I'd expect us to do better...

Tim's point is also the Southampton v Tottingham sham match that prevented us from taking part in top flight footy.
I was thinking the other day, what has happened to the Albion Museum at the Amex? So that the youngsters can keep up with our history.

Its more a case of keeping people's feet on the ground and not heads in the clouds and its another way of putting the old saying that you can't run before you can walk.
Its just too many on here seem to think that we should be the olympic 100m champion after we have only just taken our first couple of steps.

There is nothing wrong with people being over ambitious, but they need to realise that what they want is unlikely and if or more likely when it doesn't happen, then its not the disaster they make it out to be.

What worries me most is that Hereford was 15 years ago...

Still seems like yesterday.

15 years ago Brighton fans owed the Plymouth fans a debt of gratitude. On the year that debt is repaid Hereford go down again. I doubt we'll be getting many Christmas cards from Hereford this year.

So of the teams that are in this years play-offs we have the 3 teams that came down from the Premier League and have the Parachute payments of circa £30 million which allowed them to keep a lot of the players they had in the top flight, the other team is a beaten play-off side from the year before.

This year the league has been won by a side that lost the Play-off final last year and Southampton had been building a squad to challenge for the premier league for about 3 years, not the 1 we had (judging from their expenditure figures of 93% turnover going on wages a couple of years ago and their long term goal)

The other teams above us include Leicester (who were snapping up virtually every player they could at one stage and spent far more than us) Middlesbrough and Hull and how long ago where they in the top flight?

We had the 14th highest player budget this season, so using that we have over achieved by 4 places.

And when does spending £100 million on a ground guarentee any kind of success? If it did then clubs wouldn't be spending vast sums on players, but putting more and more money into their infrastructure.

Better than all the teams who have spent god knows how much more than us? Really? You really think that?
Sorry I think you both misinterpreted my post. I meant I'd expect for us to do better than fighting against relegation in league 2, not doing better than we did this season. 10th is a great finish.
