I suppose technically that is the end of our season really.

We certainly aint going up, we have enough nous to avoid relegation, so I think we should forget about spending any money we havent got now and look forward to next years assault on mid table mediocrity

We need to spend a little to ensure we stay up don't we?

Debatable really as the club may believe we have enough talent to get by and achieve this.

Not upfront we don't.Poor strike force. No decent fall backs just loans. There's alot of work to be done on our squad. Not to mention our midfield

We have enough talent but not enough experience. We need one or two more experienced heads, on loan maybe to help us out.

Yes but it really is something we can debate but have no control over.

Last season the club bought no-one and it looks like it again this season.

As I said earlier it really is a gamble by the club but it may work.

I think if the club can stay-up this season without buying anyone, simply loaning in players, they will take that route. It saves money, and there is less risk.

Until we get Flamer, the club will always look to survive on the bare minimum. We are just VERY VERY fortunate we had an excellent crop of youngsters during desperate times.

The other thing that can't be forgotten is that targetted players may not want to come here. Temporary facilities, poor home crowds / atmosphere and every prospect of being involved in a relegation dog-fight.

I'm sure it isn't as simple as identifying a player, giving them a ring and then getting the club shop to print their name on the back of a home and away shirt ...

but what if we receive a decent offer for Lynch, Cox or Robinson at the end of Jan? Would/Should we sell?

I agree maybe we shouldn't spend out on players transfer fees (not like we ever have done that often anyway), but hopefully we could get a few guys in for small fees / free transfers just to boost the size and quality of the squad.

We are going down unless we get some half decent signings in.

I mean experienced players not foreign or non league lads who have played collectively about 12 games of English football.

We have too many youth team footballers out there as a lot of our experienced players are in the treatment room.

Lets wait until the start of next season, get in a few loanees to play against Bognor and Worthing, and try to build a team by next Xmas.

Or do our team building now,so that we have a team to start the season with, hopefully still in League One,hopefully a top half,home-winning team to keep any STHs happy.

The price of relegation would by far out-do any measures taken to bring in a player or players that could ensure we stay up, which in my opinion would be a proven goalscorer and some more experienced heads.

I agree, we should stay up with our current squad but surely given the current situation with Falmer, its not even worth comtemplating the risk of relegation to League 2.

Is it a gamble we can afford to take though?
We played that game last season and lost.

What an inspirational idea.....:shootself :shootself :shootself

Yep...perfect....just the sort of boost this club needs, when they will be trying to encourage Season Ticket Renewals (apparently the life-line of the club..?). Buying no-one and doing NOTHING!

My point was we are getting results such as Chesterfield and some reasonably winnable home games, we should get the 16 points required for safety with not too many alarms.

I agree that we should if required get in a loan or two, but there is no point spending money now when the season is effectively over.

STH's like myself will renew come what may, so I dont think that not spending money will be a problem.

I reckon we need 52 just to make sure, so another 18 will do. Thats a point a game which is achievable bearing in mind our last 17 points have come in our last 14 league games
