....has everyone forgotten about Ashley Barnes!?

I believe that he is that "25-goal" striker we need. He has the confidence and can find the net for us.

OK, nothing will happen until Plymouth actually get a manager in place but come on, why has everyone forgotten about him!?

I reckon he is our man up-front. :clap2:

A fit, healthy, motivated and non-suspended Glenn Murray is capable of scoring 25 goals in a season. 31 goals in 63 league games for the Albion and has scored at a ratio of 1 in every 2 games at all the clubs he's played at. Problem solved if we can get him playing in most of our games next season!

Problem is he acts like complete c*nt quite a lot so its difficult to get a consistent season out of him. + he will miss the first few games of next season won't he?.

Plymouth said he was not for sale last season and they have just sold their best striker to QPR so can't see them changing their mind

But, a goal every other game would work out at a mere 23 goals for the season. We need a 25 goal a season striker, damnit!

He will miss the first two of the new season I believe. I would imagine that Gus want's a 25+ goal machine to go alongside Murray. That means that we have more chance of always having a goal threat if the other is suspend or injured.

Was a bit surprised to read we couldn't go after Billy Paynter as he was already earning more a Swindon than we could afford to pay! Now we have cut at least 3 of the top earners from the squad, surely we can afford some one half decent?

I think the fact that a top poker player is our chairman makes all this bluster about "can't afford" just bluster. I expect Gus and TB to deliver some real quality players in all areas of the pitch before kick off. I can see us being the most talked about League 1 team pre-kick off this season, with our new team and Falmer, which will look finished from the outside by September, sparking interest.

I'm with you Icy Gull. So much of this talk sounds like the club managing expectations. I'm pretty sure that a host of greedy agents were rubbing their hands at the prospect of extracting fat paychecks from our super-rich chairman. IMO it's the right thing to do. No matter how big your fortune you can only spend it once, lets get the best value we can for every pound Bloom puts in

We spent about £1mil last season and got a few players in.

Gus has said we have a similar budget to last year, and if we keep hold of the main squad and sign those we had on loan we won't need many more

A new goalkeeper
1 or 2 Right backs
A decent centre back to accompany Elphick
Hendrie
Prutton
LuaLua
Barnes
A new striker

Think we need 3 strikers because Holroyd will not be up to it i'm afraid

we need a midfield capable of adapting to different players' styles to make the most of the diffence between someone like Holroyd and a Murray/Barnes - very different playing styles and needing specific types of service.
Served properly Holroyd offers us distinct options in our style of play but we weren't able to take advantage of that this season because our midfield is a little limited. Hopefully next season with different personnel................

not that i think Ormerod will come here but you've pretty much just described Dean Windass at Hull as well and he didn't get a look in in the big league...

Brett Ormerod on loan.... he won't get in the Blackpool team this year.

Shhh, he used to play for Scummers at St Marys, I expect Pardew pops on here to see what's what. No doubt he'll wade in if he knows we are interested
