When managers go on in the press about this or that, it is purely to do with taking the pressure off the team. A lot of mangers do it yet still people listen and still don't seem to be able to see through it. Journos love it because it gives them good copy and it gives fans something to whine about. How often do you see opposition managers say crazy things after the game? Look at mourinho constantly writing off his teams chances in the press to alleviate pressure of chelsea and put it onto man city.

I agree that is a possible partial explanation, but have to say, in Gus' case, that he just went too far re budget.

Maybe thats true but like most post match comments its all hot air that is said in the heat of the moment. Perhaps he hasn't mastered the art of PR but that doesn't mean he believes everything he says but it does leave him open to criticism

I've resorted to posting the whole conversation between the two so B.W can see just how he manages to create an argument with himself. This should be the end of it as no reasonable human being could possibly argue against that.
