After months and months of BBC-bashing, this is the sort of programme that makes the license fee worthwhile. For it's faults, there are some things the BBC does that are absolutely un-matchable. Nature docs are one of them.

I'm a huge fan of nature programmes and this is up there with the best of them. Superb.

I'm also very envious of da and would love a job like this.

Totally agree with all of this. Stunning TV, which puts all that reality shite in its' place.

How incredible is this program...

Only DA and the BBC can 'AFFORD TO' make shows like this!
If the other tv companies had a compulsory tv tax I'm sure they could also spend ten million+ on making it too.
It is a good show but never forget the BBC has a massive advantage financially, so they are not THAT wonderful - take last night's Skywatching, sending Prof. Cox to some tropical paradise to chuck shells about and blow up a balloon to demonstrate something that could be done in a studio or the UK; which other tv company could afford to waste money like that, quite ridiculous.

In summary then: Africa is a fantastic program ???

Loved the crafty lizards. But the elephant calf dying put a bit of a DOWNER on the evening.

SKywatching wouldn't exist on ITV. It's factual. Name me a decent ITV nature programme, or documentary for that matter. We're incrediably lucky to have the BBC in this country. It's an institution that gives as much as we give, it's something that can't be owned by private multinationals, something that is accountable for it's mistakes.

It's something that the Tories and Daily Mail want rid of - surely that alone tells you how great it is.

I literally don't understand BBC bashing.

P.S Africa has been amazing so far.

If you are planning on watching a programme on iPlayer, and don't want to know what happened in it, then in future I would respectfully suggest not clicking on and reading a thread discussing said programme.
