Leeds out!

Means we will definately have a match over weekend 29/30 March.

We're due to play Leeds on the Saturday so if they had made the final and we hadn't, then there would have been a free weekend.

But now means it's either Leeds away on the Saturday OR Wembley on the Sunday :ascarf:

"Each Club shall play its full available strength in all matches. The Board will from time to time issue a policy as to what constitutes ‘full available strength’. Any Club failing to meet this requirement will be required to pay a fine of up to £5,000."

Expect another points deduction, Paddy. ;)

bring it on. 15 points wasn't enough ;)

is the rule not five first teamers or something?
if the rule is the same as last season think it was 6

was told by someone on here when i asked how they worked out who was a regular it was on how many games they had played if thats start surely you might be fined cos apart from prutton, seb and marques have any of the others started regulary?

i seem to be in the minority here but i would much rather we tried and got through the fa cup games ( wont be easy i know) and got a good away game in the 3rd or even if the draw was kind in round 3 the 4th round than get worry about the tin pot cup

would be nice to get to the final but probably get swansea on a cold tuesday night in december anyway

i guess bates/wise think a £5k (if any - the 'policy' seems flimsy) is worth the risk in a competition that no one really care about.

ol bite yer legs hunter on the commentary thinks whyzee did it on purpose and with an fa cup replay, the 15 point deduction, getting out this league, that a two leg semi final in a tin pot comp would be an unwelcome distraction. and i agree with him.

but no, none of the others are *that* regular.

Looking good if we beat Cheltenham tomorrow.

Southern semi finalists:

Gillingham
MK Dons
Swansea
and hopefully us

Northern semifinalists;

Stockport
Morcambe
Bury
Grimsby

Nobody there we cant beat.

Elland Road crowd tonight: nearly 19,000.

Suggests some people were taking it seriously even if Wise wasn't. I suspect he thought he could waltz through with a scratch side.

Got to be a competition record crowd for a non final or area final game, surely?

cheap tickets.

last season we played midweek against leicester i think in the league around this time and had 2000 people less in er. real feel good factor around the club right now (even if we dont want to win a paint trophy!) bates reduced the prices, us vs them, we're doing ok. football fans are fickle.

Surely Leeds are about the only reason for still wanting to be in the poxy competition?

At least then if we did make it to the final and played them it would more thank likely be a sell out. Anyone else you're looking at a half full Wembley at best.

Couldn't care less who we play if we get to the final. I'd rather win the competetion than worry about the finals attendence. I would happily take Grimsby, only get 40k and win than play Leeds, sell out and lose.

No it wasnt you should haver been relegated to the lowest division of the Football League i.e Div 2 and fined at least the equivalent of what was owed to other clubs within the league, if any was. The League could then have made a donation to the other clubs, so they didnt lose out by your sharp practice, and it would have made clubs think seriously about doing it in future. As the police say prevention is better than cure.
