Author John Green's experience as AFC Wimbledon defeat MK Dons.

Absolutely brilliant. I remember AFC coming to Burgess Hill as they made their way up the leagues - they confirmed promotion by winning (think it was 0-2 but it was several years ago). Was a BHTFC record crowd at the time. When the second goal went in the scorer had his shorts torn off by his teammates :lolol:

Separately, I did a couple years on a ‘conversational Spanish’ evening class (around the same time). One of the women in the group was a mad keen AFC supporter - still remember her using ‘AFC Wimbledon’ in virtually everything she was asked to say in Spanish to the extent it became a running joke. Saw her on the train recently (think I was on the way to Spurs), she was in AFC Wimbledon merch…….presumably on the way to a game.

You do have to wonder don't you? It only serves to remind everybody of their less than savory origins.

Seems some of their fans even agree:

A few years ago I went to watch the Albion at MK Dons - nothing pre-booked, just turned up on the day and asked nicely if I could buy a seat in the stands. Sometimes it feels OK to engage with the home fans, other times stay very silent and do give a clue that you're supporting the away team! Anyway, this lot seemed quire friendly; I admitted my allegiance, and had a nice chat - much of it about the Baldock brothers (George was playing for them at the time). I asked them about dropping the 'Dons' and just becoming Milton Keynes United, or whatever, and to a man, they were 100% against it.
