Mate, even with the profits we have made, we still wouldn't be able to afford the wages Caicedo wanted and Trossard. Not to mention some of our playes have clauses in their contracts to match them. Leeds tried doing what you are asking. They were richer than us.

Maybe this is American thinking and why the US sport don't have relegation & promotion but what is the point of being in the PL if you can't compete wage wise.

Ensiso wonders who was doing what there.

We're currently 2-0 down to the team with a stadium 1/3rd the size of ours, and 6 first team players out with injury...
In a microcosm yes, because we are playing poorly and have been for months. It doesn’t actually change the strategy; short termism isn’t Barber and Bloom’s style.

When we’ve beaten top teams against a fraction of their playing budget we were over-performing.

There’s also an almost undeniable correlation between levels of reinvestment and league position.

Villa sold Grealish for £100m and now they’re 4th. Why? Because they chose to reinvest the money into the squad. Now they’ll be in the champions league and we will recuperate a big portion of that money.
Villa are are the shit FFP wise though, aren’t they?

Edit to answer my own question: Yes they are. They lost 120m in 22-23 and haven’t done anything to suggest that it’ll be much less this season.

Well it is about that, because a number of posts above are complaining about our business practices, which are being blamed for our current awful form.

I’m pointing out this is the model because there is no alternative, except for asking the owner to invest hundreds more millions of his own money to fund a transfer spree.
Owner's playing at the top table now, it's a high stakes game

2.0 down and we bring on Webster and Veltmsn. I absolutely despair. 4 games, goals for 1 on goals against 10.

We need a poll on which poster will start the first RDZ out poll

We have made about 130 changes this season according to Glenn, incredible - ( and that was just the Goal Keepers 😉)

Because the premier league top clubs make a lot of their money from advertising and from foreign markets. We will never be big enough to do that. Unless we become well known outside of England we will never ever compete. people talk about the Super league being a closed shop. But the premier league is just as closed off. The three who came up are looking to be the three who go back down.

Or he got lucky, taking over a very good team that was fairly buzzing, and managed to keep the good vibes he inherited going for a season.
Yes completely agree
Just been found out and most likely add another club to make 8 in 11-12 years
What is also an interesting stat is that he played for 14 different clubs in 15 years
He don’t stay long…but why?
