I would expect them to alternate between right back and right midfield one going forward and the other filling in. The surprise for me is Krul playing not Maenpaa could that be down to Ryans performances and his position in the team? Or is it just to give Krul a game just in case?

Three wingers, three full backs and no strikers.....that's a novel approach.

Play where you want night tonight, Skalak has bagsied the goalie gloves.

Still Somewhere in Sussex!
Can't believe Krul has got the nod over Maenpaa personally!
Maempaa deserves his chance again! Keeps clean sheets and can't get a game! Bloody madness!
Rant over!! UTA!! And a Cup run would be good! :albion2:

Nine to defend the Alamo - sorry, the penalty area, and speed merchant Jose to wait on the centre spot to chase?

Edit: just seen the team as per the BBC - a bit different t the one quoted on here - and it does look as if it could be 3-4-3. Interesting.............

A strange looking line-up but Hughton had little choice as he had to protect our key players in positions we have no back-up for. I know we've got a few injuries but the team highlights how we didn't strengthen enough in the summer.

Totally agree with all that. What does Maenpaa have to do to get a game? Be patient, play well when called upon..........

Krul
Schlotto-Goldson-Hunemeier-Bong
Rosenior-Molumby-Hutchinson
Skalak-Murphy-Izquierdo

My guess at the formation.433/451 when we're defending.

Although I suppose IF Krul has been brought in with a view to replacing Ryan (as has been suggested by some on here, although I'm doubtful about it myself) then it makes some sense. Still hard on Maenpaa though.

BBC has Ahannach, not Hutchinson...............

Goldson shown at RB too................that's an awful lot of RBs in one team!
