I think I’d prefer not to even go than risk missing a turnaround at the end.

The game was on TV, not criticising anyone for leaving early as I couldn’t care less people can leave when they want, just always found the mindset of planning to leave early a strange one, especially when quite often the most dramatic period of a football game is the final 10 minutes.

It’s like paying £50 for a theatre ticket then leaving before the dramatic twist, might as well have just kept the £50 and watched it on TV, at least that’s what I’d prefer to do anyway, imagine we’d turned that around and won 4-3…..

Gave up with Mill Hill last season my daughter lives very near the race course and gave it ago for a game much more organised and quicker than the Mill Hill shambles.
Think I'll do the same next time I drive. The queue seemed to be going down far quicker for the Racecourse with double-decker busses regularly turning up. I'm assuming the shorter round trip between the Amex and Racecourse makes a significant dufference when multiplied by several shuttles, and yes, the extra factor of time to load and unload a coach instead of a bus designed to hop on and hop off is a big factor that I hadn't appreciated before.

The convenience of being right on the A23 just isn't worth it over the advantage of being back in your dry, warm car much sooner.

I suppose all the factors came together last night: latest possible mid-week KO, pissing rain and we lost!

There was an accident in Woodingdean, so the Racecourse buses were having to go down Lewes Road, and up Elm Grove, so are usually quicker on the turnaround than on Thursday night.

If people leave early thats their choice, the gripe I have with them is blocking my view by standing right in front of me still glancing at the game on the way out either whilst trying to squeeze past in the row or just before the exit with very few minutes left so potentionally stopping me seeing a critical moment!! If your going to go at least go quickly.

Left at 85mins.....yes I'm a bad supporter. But having to drive back home to the New Forest around 80odd miles.
I feel it is justified to leave a little earlier than others.
Also didn't fancy queuing in the rain for the Mill hill P&R .
Was home just after midnight if anyone is interested.
I left on the final whistle. Queuing for an hour for Mill Hill bus. Got home to Chandlers Ford, about 30 miles closer than where you are, at one o’clock, an hour later than you. I might be rethinking my strategy.

while most people are saying how wonderful it all was, and yes, the European experience was good, I felt blooming miserable from about 10.30 onwards.

So the racecourse queue would’ve gone down even quicker without that then? That’s decision made for me as far as future P&R is concerned then!

Pre bringing kids I used to get the train down with our group and as drinking no real rush to get on the train at full time.

After the exile of having kids we tried the bridge once and it took 45 mins to get out of the car park so decided to try Seagull’s travel and honestly I wouldn’t bother travelling any other way now.

Sure it’s annoying that I have to pay an extra £400 for me and junior to attend each season and I can’t divert my travel concession to it but it takes out all the hassle.

We arrive an hour before KO and know to be on the coach 30 mins after the final whistle when the coach park empties.

I didn’t take a jacket on Thursday and was soaked through for the 5 minute walk to the coach park so can only imagine how bad it was for those waiting for an hour in the queue, fair play but I couldn’t do that week in week out regardless of the weather

Not the same at all. Theatre has a set ending, a story, that's built to lead up to the ending, and you only go to see that once. And you book for a time that suits you anyway.

Football can be anything, and you go once every two weeks for years on end, and you can't decide when kick off or full time is, the TV companies decide what's best for them.

So not the same at all.

I put my shoes on the electric drier and they were still wet 24 hours later (as was the top I was wearing). It felt like I'd been swimming home.

There seemed to excessively large numbers of people on the path to the east side of the railway, we were even held up for a few minutes by the station. No idea why that was more crowded than usual
I wore a suit to the game as I travelled straight from work. The suit trousers got wet through walking back to the bridge and the dye turned my legs a lovely shade of blue. Now I know why it is dry clean only. Think my shoes are still drying out now.

Some are saying they left on 85 minutes. It was obvious there would be over 10 minutes of added time, so why still leave so early?

We left on the final whistle and walked up to the racecourse queue. My wife doesn’t walk fast but we still got on the second pair of buses to leave after we arrived in the queue, so it was certainly clearing quickly. I didn’t notice a diversion of the route so if that did happen it must have been later.

Even with such a short time in the rain, my fleece jacket was still wet late into the afternoon yesterday. I’ve not got that wet so quickly for years.

Ah that explains it. Racecourse PnR usually works well. Just when we thought we couldn't get any more soaked, a river appeared for us to stand in too, which was nice.
Overall though, another milestone attended and bloody glad to say I was there.

I left after the final whistle and queued for a train into Brighton in that rain for about 45 minutes. I had waterproofs on, but that didn’t seem to make a blind bit of difference. I swear I would’ve been drier if I’d just jumped straight into the sea!

I knew I’d be home a bit later than usual because of the added time and the queues in the rain. However I just missed the Thameslink train from Brighton that leaves at around 11 and the 11.30 Thameslink was cancelled. So we had to wait for the midnight train, which wasn’t going to Georgia by the way, but did stop pretty much everywhere else.

We got home at 3am.

I’m amazed that I managed to get up for work and my daughter managed to get up for school on Friday morning.

I may need to rethink my plans for the next game (but it won’t involve leaving before the end).

I remember being held back for 20 minutes in the away end at Brisbane Road back in the early noughties. Apparently we had brought with us a reputation for roister-doistery.

To be fair....it wasn't exactly the end of the world.

An important point to remember is that apparently some Palarse fans are hell bent-on leather. Trouble. I meant hell-bent on trouble.

So, keeping them in for a bit would save genuine Brighton supporters from having to dance around the Amex like it was unlucky to go the other way.

And then, of course, soon, we will be entertaining the charming ladies* and gentlemen of Marseilles.

*Let's face it. It will be gentlemen. Of a fashion. Innit.
Yeah, keeping away fans in at the end used to be the norm at high risk matches, especially in the 70s and 80s. There is nothing wrong with it. Your last sentence is something we commented on when the camera panned into the Athens end. 100 % male. Weird. Likely the same for Marseilles.

Left just after the 3rd AEK goal. I'd actually pre planned to leave after 84mins anyway.

Apologies to those who are so offended by that. But it's it's a 1hr 50 min drive home. And I have work in the morning on a Friday. So if anyone wants to moan about me wanting that first or second Mill Road bus, in all due respect, you can suck it. Don't care. Getting home just after midnight. Some of us aren't local anymore.

Evening games suck balls. I was tired driving which is dangerous enough
I never leave early but agree with you 100%. It is nobodies business but yours what time you leave. As you said, they can suck it.

They’d been blocked off for student arrivals during the day beforehand (it was first day of moving in) and presumably the divvy stewards didn’t think to reclaim the space for football parking.

That illustrates the benefit of leaving early.

I didn't get back to Worthing until after 11:30.
