Looking into booking a flight to Alicante on behalf of someone else. As daft as it sounds I have never booked over the internet before, any recommendations for tried and tested sites that are worth looking at?

Cheers

Thanks, been looking at some comparison websites but they are a bit muddled. Flying from Gatwick.

Monarch also fly to Alicante.

Where are you going on the Costa Blanca? If you're south of Alicante then Murcia might be a good (and possibly cheaper) alternative. If you're going a bit north then Valencia quite often comes up cheaper with more availability

Flew there with Monarch last week, wasn't too bad really.

As with all airlines to Alicante, the 'extras' soon add up, checked luggage, choose a seat/priority boarding etc.

Also, if you wikipedia the airport you are going to [this applies anywhere] it will show you all airlines and all routes, then just do the rest yourself

I'm booking ot for a friend who can'tget on with the internet, he is a bit older and never bothered with computers. He is visiting a friend in a place just south of Alicante, soemeplace with a name like Talleiveiga or similar.

Thanks for the advice chaps, Monarch and Easyjet seem to offer flights ranging from 56 to 70 pounds but I will have to look into the add-ons etc.

Once again, thanks.

Have a look at Murcia too. Alicante is about 45-60 mins from Torrevieja (sp) and Murcia is about 30, I think. This may not matter if his friend is picking him up

That's the place. Yeah, his friend is picking him up so all that needs doing is booking the flight. Ta!

Have used Monarch several times with no problems (mainland Spain, Tenerife, Portugal) but when using their website be very careful that you check all your details are correct before you go to check out & pay. I only realized I had booked the wrong return flight once the payment had gone through, went straight back on the website and they charged me £60 to change the flight. :(

We used to fly easyjet to Murcia, but their prices have steadily increased in recent years. This year we flew to Alicante and back with Ryanair, much cheaper overall but just be careful with them.

If you can, try and get him on the earliest flight possible, first Easyjet one is about 5:50am I think, I've learnt from bitter experience that the later the flight the more chance of delays building up during the day. Coming back make sure he knows that the return flights go out of T2 which is the newer smaller check in area.
