The most exciting football in my Albion supporting 'career' was the second half of the 1996-97 season, the last at The Goldstone, when we HAD to win every game to have a chance of staying in the league and, in all likelihood, surviving as a football club.

It wasn't the classiest brand of football but it was bloomin' exciting. When we were attacking the North goal, generally in the second half of each game, we had Storer and MacDonald flying down the flanks supplying the ammo for Baird and Maskell to finish off and try and save the Albion.

and not forgetting everyone screaming at Bellotti til he f***ed off and we could then all turn our attention to the match. I always remember that moment. The cheer as he scuttled off and then everyone turning to the action on the pitch and the abuse turning to cheers of 'COME ON BRIGHTON'.

The football was dreadful but I doubt I'll ever experience it as exciting that again.

The only worry is that this is so dependant on one man, Gus Poyet and if he is tempted away and he has to be on other chairmans radar now then the game is up.

Yes you're right. Doom is just round the corner. I'm feeling really depressed now.

Still Somewhere in Sussex!
Looking forward to witnessing the new style of football tomorrow night. (Bad fan  - 1st game of the season against Exeter.)

At the end of last season, I saw 6 of the last 7 games at home, and I'd thought we'd progressed tremendously from the style of football we were playing in previous seasons at the Withdean, that I'd seen. So I'm really hoping that we don't have a blip tomorrow night, and can keep up the quality and style of win we've been having lately :albion2:

Just don't miss the Gus Bus now!
