We use Shred It. But I think all these companies are pretty similar. It's easy and good value. ignore staples.

Don't try and burn it. It takes way way longer than you think and big blocks of paper don't burn, they just go out.

As a rule, I've mostly found fire to be equally effective in 2021 as it was in 1978.

I successfully burnt my last shed down, and to be honest, it was the best afternoon I'd had since an unexpectedly exciting afternoon in CentreParcs.

I doubt a few wads of paperwork in a tin bin in the back garden would cause much of an issue.

Burn it. I too had boxes and boxes of stuff. HMRC say you have to keep it for 5 years but as the years go on it's harder to get to the box from 20+ years ago.
During lockdown 1 I went in to the cupboard under the stairs to pull out all the boxes over 10 years old. Blimey what a fire!

Another vote for burning them here. To stop bits of paper flying about you can get a brazier with a lid for not very much money at all. We do it every couple of years and once the fire gets properly going you can get through a huge amount very quickly.

Pop in a couple of potatoes in foil, and that's supper sorted too.
