Greetings hive mind.

I'm not one for throwing out statements/bills/documents etc.

For me, IF they have even been opened, they go on 'the pile'.
When too big 'the pile' gets pushed to one side.
From there it heads into a draw.
Until its final resting place in some form of tuperware storage container tucked somewhere out of sight.

By that time it's probably only 50% current.
The rest being dead accounts, empty envelopes, fliers, cards, shit paints the kids bought home from school, and all the other paper detritus from life.

So as the title suggests how the frack do I get rid of it all?

T'internet tells me companies like Shred It offer the service.
Assuming it's not prohibitively expensive I'm not adverse to going down that route.
But before committing I figured I might as well ask the collective.

- I don't want to spend the day separating it all.
- I sure as hell ain't removing staples.
- I'm guessing, as it's not 1978, so I can't just burn it.

If nothing else crops up has anyone used such companies?
How picky (if at all) are they?

Thanks in advance

Your pal Stat!

Oh and I'm now pretty much paper-free, so hopefully once it's gone that'll be it!

Shredded Neat.

I destroyed 50 years worth of papers after my Dad died and it was £5 a sack. Cost no more than £20-£30.

Drive it over and they'll shove it into their scary huge cruncher. Bundle it all in together. I don't think staples matter.

Burn it or just bin it - hardly likely it’ll get into dodgy hands is it. Stop bricking it SB.

Use the paper to jot down thoughts that are not worth bothering to post on an internet forum. (You'll probably find you need more paper.)

Most confi waste companies will come and pick them up so long as they are in sealed bags.

By sealed I mean either by one of those plastic tags or elastic bands sealing the top.

Many of them will send their own bags and seals out in advance

Don’t even think about going down this road, it will ruin you!

It seems the good folk at LBG and the NHS have no issue regurgitating your personal details on every F”in page of documents.

I’ve done 4 bin bags of historic stuff since I went paperless. I still have a box to go but going into the office early on Friday for first time in 18 months so seems sensible to test the corporate confidential waste system is still working.

If you haven’t got access to anywhere, paid someone to get rid, trust me!

I used to leave my porn mags in a twitten somewhere.

Well, well, well.
About 45 years ago I was walking down a path towards a small garage compound where a saw a short balding guy in his 30’s sprinting from the twitten behind the garages.
I sneaked a look and purloined about 5 copies of your very best and for the time quite hard core Danish porn.
Hidden in my dads garage I charged about 10p for my mates for five minutes.
Thank you for instigating my entrepreneurial spirit!

I still maintain a Kimberley Davies FHM cover from that era.

Always wondered what happened to the editor at large Grub Smith

Put them into bags and put them in a leaking shed, 6 months after the shed has been repaired you will notice that they've turned into dried 'bricks' of paper. Separate and incinerate in a garden incinerator. Alternatively do the semi environmentally good bit and take them all out of the envelopes. Put the envelopes in the recycling and incinerate the rest. Don't do it on a day like today otherwise you'll hear the displeasure of your neighbours, by the sound of all their windows being slammed shut. Warn your neighbours & don't do it until after 6pm. I think the 6pm thing may be a myth though. ???

Stick it all in a dustbin and fill with water. Wait until it turns to illegible mush and then squeeze the water out and dry before recycling.
