I managed to take my old double bed, mattress and frame (taken apart) to the local dump. All in the back of my Ford Focus, back seat down of course.

You should be able to fold the mattess to fit it in.

How did you get the bed and mattress home?

I saw two chaps manhandling an Ikea flatpack wardrobe off a tram from Croydon and up the steps at Wimbledon Station once. Suspect it is probably quite a regular occurence bearing in mind Tram Stop/Ikea proximity.

I appreciate that this information is of no help at all in answering your query.

......Actuall scrub that last line. Train Horsham to East Croydon - tram from East Croydon to Beckenham Junction. Not sure if you would need to buy a ticket for the bed, if a child's bed it may go half fare or it might be worth investing in a railcard of some sort? Let me know if this has been a help.
