well anything is an improvement, but it doesnt address the underlying problem that you cant take the opinions of their nobody pundits seriously. i know people like knock Shear, Hansen et all on BBC, but at least they won stuff and played for top teams, rather than the likes of Wimbledon and Chelsea (when they where shit). the commentators also get a hardon for the big four, and will often contradict themselves about who good/bad a player is within 10 minutes.

Who cares how many trophies pundits have won? I am more interested in whether they have anything interesting to say. None of the BBC or ITV teams can be bothered to try and tell us anything we do not all ready know. All this tedious "the boy done well there", "fantastic shot", "terrible defending" bollocks they come out with is pointless. How about some proper tactical analysis, they must surely be aware of this stuff. The british football viewer has their intelligence insulted every time they tune in.

Seem to recall that you were unimpressed with HD for a long while...

True. But I then went and got blu-ray, which then made me see just how much better a HD picture was on my own tellybox. My old Sky+ box was on the way out, this HD box was a freebie along with free installation, just an extra tenner a month, so I succumbed.

Dunno if I'd have paid £160 for a box + installation (as it was when it first came out), so I wasn't ion a tearing hurry. But glad I got it now, if only for the golf which looks fabulous.

??? you mean like on BBC MotD and MotD2 where they show the space being left open by defenders, the runs the attackers could of made or did make, how they split the defence to make space, how the midfielder constantly exploited a gap to set up attacks, or the other one that constantly broke up play in one area...

The rare occasions they do something analytical simply highlights the infrequency and superficiality of it.

I fear I'm one of the only ones who won't miss him on MOTD2.

I don't think he's bad I just don't think he's great and I welcome somebody with more of a footballing connection back to give the show a little more credibility. And if they ditch that 2 Good 2 Bad segment too I'll be even happier

Get Tim Lovejoy on.
His footballing knowledge is second to none, he knows the 'big 4' inside out, and actually knows a lot of the players personally as well, which he's not shy to mention. Plus he's hilarious AND ironic, and always dresses well.

He's the dream ticket.

Get that guy from Gazzetta Football Italia on board, BBC! James Richardson, was it?

ASBOlutely.

His Football Weekly podcasts for the Guardian are great and his knowledge of the game remains impeccable. He's also a master of puns and clever wordplay and isn't afraid to poke fun at topics which might be a little sensitive.

He was on Setanta before they collapsed although they weren't really playing to his strengths. How he hasn't got a more important telly gig since his Gazetta Football Italia days I genuinely don't know.

He's cheeky, he's clever, he's funny, he knows football inside out. What more could you want?

Well I've listened to today's and I didn't notice it get a mention HOWEVER perhaps the momentum will have gathered by Thursday so that Football Weekly Extra will be FORCED to cover the subject.

There's already talk of this in the comments on the Guardian website and apparently Football365 are behind the idea too.

Jimbo for the BBC!

He'd obviously be amazing but I suspect the problem lies with the fact that he is a virtual unknown to the majority of the viewing public. Also, the coverage on BBC and ITV is in the same vein as Sky Sports in that it takes everything very seriously (even if Chiles pipes up with 2 Good 2 Bad at the end), Richardson is amazing because he doesn't mind poking fun and things and having a bit of awareness that there is more to life than big 4 clashes, I'm not sure this would go down as well on national TV!

Chiles will be no loss to the Beeb, his Brummie whine and smug unshaven face will not be missed in my house, he looks a mess !
He's lucky to have somehow propelled himself way beyond his abilities and should go back to daytime tv telling us that BT shares have gone up by tuppence etc...
