Can you point me to where else I have gone on about Man United being lucky? No? Thought not.
I just think that Adebayor has been a bit of a scapegoat. He was given a yellow at the time, the issue should now be laid to rest. I initially read the punishment as a 2 match suspension, that would have been grossly unfair. I still think that the FA needs to apply more consistency in how they treat players for 'unfair celebrations.
I don't think they could hit him with much or Man City would have appealed ... and WON!
Ref saw it, took action, he booked him. The authorities have been pretty clear that they wouldn't take action retrospectively for things the refs have seen and acted on, so if challenged, this wouldn't have stood up.
As it is they have dished out something that is sufficiently meaningless that City probably won't bother challenging.
so a celebration gets him a £25k fine, yet another player two footed challenge no where near the ball with intent to hurt breaks opponents leg and they get a 3-game ban......hmmmmmm
Commonsense prevails for once. Adebayor didn't leave the field, or make any specific gesture towards the Arsenal fans, so what did he do that was REALLY that bad?
No doubt the TOOLS on here that were CLAMOURING for a 6-match ban will be up in ARMS about it, though.
