Alex Ferguson was on the verge of being sacked at Man U, but he was given time, he turned it around and look at them now.

Give Adams time and he will get the team going in the right direction again, it took him to the second season to be successful last time, we should just be patient again

These rare occurrences that are reached for like straws, are desperate litmus for a failed experiment - there are so many examples that will attest for the other side of the coin, which is abject and ends in relegation.

He has HAD time, he HAS failed to produce after about 6 false dawns and 'turned corners' etc blah blah blah. Get real, wake up and smell the coffee!

...very true, some of us still had a bitter taste in our mouths about the way that DW was forced out of the club, plus the older ones amongst us remembered how successful Mullery was in his second spell.

But Mullery never had the backing of the board did he? A massive difference between then and now.

MA has made some odd team selections - who hasn't? But with time, he'll get things right if given more than 6 (six) months. But as ever, time in football is a commodity many just won't give. Another management change will make matters worse. MA's vastly experienced - and he's proved he's got contacts in the top echelons. Of course, getting things right could probably be achieved faster if a minor but very vocal set of opinion-expressing fans would get behind the club's directors, players and team management regardless of who's in charge: Falmer's literally about to start being built and yet it was only a 3 months ago that many were snipping at the club saying it will never happen; there's been a sudden silence on that front after years of what must have been morale draining derogatory comments, most of it from so called supporters. As someone said earlier, we're fans, not shareholders, and a proportionate level of criticism seems beyond many fans no matter who's in charge - I'm sure when Mullery took us to the dizzy heights in the late 70's there were some moaning about not winning the division. You just can't please everyone all of the time. I've said it before, but the internet spreads dissatisfaction amongst the weak minded at alarming rate. We must resist such viruses.

Agreed

Mickey has struggled, for sure, he doesn't have the right mix of players, and doesn't have cover in vital areas, and can't seem to find the tactics to bridge the gap. He has made mistakes this season, and been big enough to admit to them. Nevertheless, he is an experienced manager and given a chance in January, I believe he can do what is necessary.

We've had countless manager changes in the last few years, and where has it got us? Nowhere, that is where. It's time to actually back someone for the long term instead of cutting them down prematurely. Sacking Dean Wilkins was wrong, and sacking Mickey would also be wrong.

Yes it pissed me off watching us getting outplayed yesterday, yes it's clear to me that several players need to be culled, but lets give a manager the chance to really build something for the future, even if we go down.

I agree with most of your post. However, if we get relegated I think anything else is irrelevant. We will have to sack him.

Why??

The plan was always to be in the championship by the first season at the new stadium. Relegation followed by two promotions would achieve this.

I would honestly keep Mickey even if we went down this season.

Are seriously suggesting that by taking a club from 7th to relegation you deserve another season ?

My personal opinion?

Well to answer your question not in hell.

I am not on the board though. The board announced the plan for the start of the first season at the new stadium, not that i agree with them.

IF i was on the board and DW really did have to go then there is no way i would have gone for Adams TBH.

IF there was any chance of getting him i would have gone for Horton as his record with Hull is outstanding.

Fair enough...

Yes Micky is an experienced manager, however please take up this experience debate with my Coventry and Leicester fan friends who have recently experienced his experience before he came back to us. They will say he is more than capable of attracting / signing good players, the problem is, he has no idea how to develop / build a team. Not only that they also say his tactics are predictable so teams easy nullified any threats from the off.

Easy to say, but two promotions again, would be some feat!

That's after losing many of our best players from this squad, and having to re-adjust with new players coming to humble Withdean after the exodus.
That, plus ever-diminishing attendances, less available funds.......need I go on?

We'd be closer to a struggle for survival than ever - and unless Adams is deliberately consigning us to such a fate, he's hardly looking the man to repeat another rise from ashes in consecutive seasons!

Nope - we had just better NOT get relegated, that's all.
