The problem wasn't - and isn't - the strikers. It was the lack of supply and support from midfield, not to mention the complete lack of goals from CM - and I mean complete lack. We have seen there are goals in Locadia and Andone, and Murray of course. They will, however, like all strikers, only score from a proportion of the chances they get. Given that last season the were given next to no scoring opportunities it is not surprising they didn't score many goals.
Potter's style may improve the scoring chances they will get, but an absolute beast of a CM would improve things even more - far more than spending a fortune on another striker who will get no more scoring opportunities than our present strike force.
Not that I would object to a nice new shiny 20 goal a season striker mind - just not our main priority.

Do you have a name for said beast?

Matt Clarke going to Bristol city in Webster deal on loan
Shirley...its better to cut out the middle man (Derby)...buy Webster off Brizzle and loan them Clarke for a season...still getting a championship education

Oiiiii Spence...that was my idea at 17.06 yesterday...I couldn't get through to Johnson or his chairman to put the idea to them so I've emailed Barber and Ashworth instead. Wheels in motion apparently but they are refusing to give me a fee for coming up with the idea!!!

Couldn't have said any better.

Difficult to score goals when your striker is in your own half. Unless we're expect Sidwell to teach players on how to score screamers from the half way line. That'll make for interesting matches...

He's probably had them doing the cross bar challenge since the day he arrived!

Webster is right footed, raises the question of where everyone plays if we do play 3 at the back. He loves coming forwards but might be far more limited doing that on the left.
Dunk seemed to prefer playing on the left of a two. I don't really know why you'd chose one player over another to play the centre of a 3- leader, better postion, not so good coming out from the back?

"Right lads, today, like yesterday and the day before, we're practicing half way line strikes. I don't know if you remember back when I scored a screamer from the halfway line against Bristol City in the Championship. But here's a replay, just look how I turned and smashed that. ****ing marvelous".

74% pass completion in the Championship with 4 goals and 3 assists. Are we sure this lad is worth £20m? Maybe it's £2.0m.

He's a CB.
Dunk got 83%, 2 goals, 2 assists. Maybe he's worth more than Dunk if you only use those stats for a CB.

He's a Championship player!

Even in the Championship Dunk's pass completion was 80%, 77% etc.

I'll be delighted to be proven wrong, but £20m for a Championship player? Are we sure about this?

Everything got ****ed up the day Liverpool spent 75 million on VVD.
Some would say good business as he has transformed their defence, on the other scale clubs now use this as a yardstick.

Fair point but I think it was the Neymar deal, as the record transfer fee went from 89m (Pogba) to 198m for Neymar.

Jamie Vardy was a non-league player. Amazing what getting the opportunity does for a player.

Still an infinitely better deal than they got when spunking £35m on Andy Carroll in a panic just before the window SLAMMED shut........

If you're gonna doubt the clubs ability to buy a centre back then I suggest you hang up your scarf and close the door on your way out.
