I don’t get this statement when it frequently pops up. We pay most first-team players between 40 and 50 grand a week now, Dunk is on 60 grand a week.

Why does this get touted whenever a player is out of contract. He'll be on earning nothing come August. He's also the wrong side of 30, with a dodgy hamstrings, he'll be taking a big wage cut compared to his current Liverpool contract wherever he ends up.

I'd be delighted to sign him but have the niggling fear he'd end up another Paul Kitson or Jason Dodd.

Because palace, West Ham and depending on results Villa will happily pay him twice as much.

I suspect there is a high possibility that we would be outbid on his wages.
Not sure what else he would be interested in. The main selling points of our club wouldn't necessarily appeal.

Looks like an ideal Palace signing

It's all relative. Lallanna could be on £110k per week which is outside our current pay scales.

He has only played a total of 40 prem games in the past 3 seasons. Would be a gamble to take him on big wages as there is a chance he could miss a lot of games through injury.

He would be a massive step up in class on our current midfield options.

He wants one more shot at England (which I don't think he'll get) and we have a rather loud England contact as our TD. Makes sense to me, and yes he's very good. It'll be good to have two Moy boys.
Doesn't seem to be helping Lewis with England.

Thought Leciester City had already some agreement, obviously the Rodgers facotr maybe makes that a lazy link. We would do well to afford his 80k per week wages, espcially if we sign Lingard too.

It’s a huge yes from me.

We can’t keep always signing players we hope have PL quality. Either championship players stepping up or foreign players coming over. We need to sign some players who have genuine PL experience and nous. The amount he could teach the younger players could be immense.

He was the England National teams player of the year less than four years ago, that shows this guy has serious credentials.

Given the amount Porter rotates anyway if we could get 20 games a season from him that would be fantastic signing.

Would also be a real sign of intent that allows us to attract other players of his calibre.

I’m keeping things crossed!

Hmm, I feel Lallana would be an improvement but we're taking a player in sharp downward trajectory. The money would have to make sense.

But anyway, I can't see it. As someone else said, Southampton would be more fitting (where I expect he might casually start some coaching badges etc).

What concerns me is this is a rare signing that I would recognised the player we are signing (I'm not great at recognising players that aren't ours). That's not great. Previous signings like this are: Lee Hendrie, Robbie Savage, Craig Mackail-Smith. Doesn't bode well, does it?

No from me

Not because of his ability or wages or injury record.

I just feel we have a lot of his ‘type’ of player at the club already and I believe we have very specific needs this summer which will require the resources we have.

should be looking to South America and Africa .....north and west for more dynamic players like bissouma in my opinion , also think TB needs to rattle the door re Percy Tau ....surely its tantamount to restriction of trade.....the guy is obviously quality.
