Apologies if I’ve missed this, but Adam Hinshelwood has left his role as manager of Worthing to take up the managerial role at York City.

Could potentially derail Worthing’s play-off promotion push?

Worthing
A bit of a shock this especially at this stage of the season. They’re possibly coming down from the top but Worthing could replace them.

Reading the article on the York City website it says his Worthing side have scored 269 League goals in under 3 seasons.

Ive just had a look and in total there have been 440 goals in 123 league games since the start of the 21-22 season. Must be some very entertaining games.

Can only be money. Worthing well capable of being a national league team next season and whilst very nice, York is a long way away.

I hope he does well, but this has something of a ‘Nathan Jones to ‘Stoke/Southampton’ about it.

Strange timing as thought would review at end of season. Guess money has talked

Blimey. Strange timing but so was Potter.

Not sure I understand the "strange timing" comments; if Adam is ready to move on in his career and feels York offer a decent opportunity, he can't exactly say to York "I'm interested but come back to me in the summer", can he.

That’s how it works. You take (or don’t take) the opportunity when it arises, not before or after. AH has taken Gary Elphick with him, whilst Worthing sign ex BHA Jack Spong

Poor Jack Spong! Doing well at Queens Park, then change of manager and he's dropped. No idea whether his departure was relevant to this - as some have said, he may not have settled 'oop north'.
Or maybe it was the new manager .................................... Who knows?

Then to Worthing - and wham, bam, thank you ma'am, the manager he signed for is offski!

Worthing are doing very well but York is quite a big step up IMO. If he can keep them in the national league this season he has a decent chance of building a team to push for promotion next over the next couple of seasons IMO.

Any team from 10th downwards could get relegated in National League. A decent run of 2 or 3 wins could take a team right up the league.

So you don’t think it’s strange timing for the fans and board of Worthing FC when they’re firmly in the play offs?

Strange timing on Yorks behalf might be a fairer sentiment. I think Hinsh is a great manager, but York are out of the relegation zone due to goal difference.

The jump from semi-pro to professional is a big one and from what I’ve seen from York fans, it’s a massive change in playing style too. Not sure that’s a combination I’d feel comfortable with when I’m in the midst of a relegation battle.

I really hope he does well, but there is a part of me that thinks it could end in absolute disaster. Not sure how I’d feel if I was a York fan.

I'm sure the Worthing fans and board aren't happy that he's moving on, but unless you are one of the very elite managers in the world, you usually don't get to pick and choose the timing of your job opportunities.

Congratulations to Adam on his appointment.
I hope he does really well.
Managerial success may go some way to make up for a very promising playing career blighted by injury, that prevented him from realising his full potential.
👍
PS.I read that David Stockdale is on the York staff.

Hoping he doesn't take Ollie Pearce.
