I don't think anyone except Gus thought Adam could be as good as he is. That makes me think Gus might know what he is doing.

Apologies if this has been raised already, but was anyone else a little bit disappointed in the way he came across on the documentary tonight? Don't get me wrong, he seems like a nice enough chap, and no one can doubt his commitment to the cause. I just can't find myself feeling any empathy for his comments like 'I have a family to feed' and 'I have a mortgage to pay.' The man is a pro footballer - he does not have it hard! It's fair to say 95% of us would trade places with him in a heartbeat. I really don't know why he had to say things like that. It's great he's a local boy and a family man, but I can't help but feel a bit disappointed by some of the things he said on camera. It sounded a lot like he was trying to come accross that he's in the same struggle as the rest of us, personally I don't agree.

Not really. I think it's pretty obvious from his house that he's not on the thousands that some players are on. When at you're at that level and, with all due respect to Adam, a player of that standard, you're not gonna be raking it in like the PL players do and will have to worry about a bit more about money than a player of a higher standard.

He may be on a fairly decent wage now but probably wasn't a few years ago and there's no guarantee how long that decent wage will carry on for. There's no certainty is what I think he was trying to say.

He came across fine. I get your point he'll be earning more than your average joe right now. However he won't have been earning that much in the past. Also after his football career ends he'll have look else where. He may have to make his earnings now last until he's a old man. Robbie fowler isn't one of the richest men in uk football because of his football earnings. He's done done that off the back of investments. AEA isn't anywhere in the same league. That documentary clearly showed he wasn't living in a mansion.

He may not be talking from the point of view of being on the breadline but he has to look to the future. His future may not be as scary as it can be for most of us. I know people who made money quickly then it didn't go so well. But when your looking at the future and it isn't certain it can be just as stressful and uncertain. It's all relative. Don't knock someone earning some money worrying that it won't last for ever talking candidly about it in his current situation. We would all do the same and if we didn't we'd be a fool.
AEA came across well tonight. Cut the man some slack. Some of us worked hard to get educated, some to be Entrepreneurs. He's been succesfull as a football player. one who stuck with the same club for a long time, one who wont have earned as much as some of them out there! He was asked about the future and he spoke. Fair enough.

Another bizarre thread.

I think he's a top bloke every time I hear him interviewed. He is also a credit to his profession, and the club, the way he has worked so hard to improve himself as a player over the past few years.

YEAH! some good points! How dare he have concerns for the future and the fragility of his career that has already had severe injuries! He needs to have more gang bangs with his team mates and mega orgys filmed on mobile phones and cocaine in nightclub toilets... HE IS REALLY BORING! GET RID. I DON"T WANT DECENT DOWN TO EARTH PEOPLE AT MY CLUB...

Don't apologise, it most defiantly has not been mentioned already.

Blimey. The scrutiny of some Albion fans for a model pro to have to endure eh?

"disappointing" ffs. :tosser:

He came across as a man who should never train with the first team.

Was it Bridcutt he upended?

I'm beginning to sympathise with Vicente.

I thought he came across very well. The message I got from his interview was just because he's a pro footballer it doesn't mean he's totaly different from the rest of us, He's still got a morgage to pay and a career to think about.

Him paying a mortgage like most of us brings it home about the difference between a championship player and a prem one! Rooney could almost buy that house on one weeks wages!

He's a big old unit. Not someone I'd like to have it in for me on the pitch. Came across V well I thought. A potential Oatway in the making by taking on other roles within the club once his career is over ?

Clearly I'm in a minority. Maybe I should re-watch it (reluctantly). Just the way it came across to me at the time :/

Appreciate the 'pillock' comments.

Albion legends are few and far between.
He was not 'bought'.
His wife is a looker alright, I remember seeing her in the Withdean West Stand watching her man as he put his head alonside raised studs to win the ball!
His parents are polite upstanding people too, they came to games as well

Dean Wilkins?
Moaning and blaming el-Abd was just noise from the S. Stand, usually because thay had no idea and wanted a scapegoat.

I thought Adam came across very well.

What we all have to remember is that a footballers shelf life is very short lived, i thought he was just showing that he cared and has to look and think about the future. Just like everyone of us does too.
