i might hark back a few years when he was one of our better players the yaer we came down, i really dont get why so many give him so much grief. he makes mistakes, just like others (whing/kuipers for example). problem ive seen is too many times he makes mistakes trying to cover others being out of position or such. maybe he shouldn't try so hard?

Almost certainly, unless Livermore has been doing something spectacular in training all week to drastically change Slade's plans. Or, unless Cook has been amazing all week in training, with Whing switching to left back.

Cook is (or was) not fully fit.

When will we know if he is playing ?, as I will not travel up if that Joker plays, he is simply not good enough and makes at least 2/3 big mistakes everygame. I know we are short of players, but surely we have a youth team player, or failing that Douglas Barder, Sandy Richardson, Prof Stephen Hawkins, anyone but him.......I remember last year in the family stand a bloke came in and was told that El-Abd was playing so he just got up and went home, saying he could not watch a team with him in it.

Now I know I'll get vilified for this but he was excellent at the Den last season.

It was a toss up between him and Michel for man of the match as I recall. I'm pretty sure even the moaning bastards of the board were praising his performance that day, and we all know who they are.

If he plays, then I half hope it's at centre back, the only position he's ever had a good game in. I would be happier to see Virgo at right back, Whing at left back with El-Abd partnering Tunnicliffe. Obviously, El-Abd being in the team is a massive blow to our chances, but hey ho. Atleast he'll do his best!

Add to that at least one comical backpass a game. He really is of conference standard at best.

If he does get called back, Kuipers injury may be worse than it actually

I am sure he wont want to be playing behind El Abd after the back pass at Huddersfield which cost him a red card, and the one against Forest which did his shoulder in and put him out of action for 10 months after a couple of operations

To be fair he does make some shocking errors, however it is at CB that these errors are fatal. If he makes an error or two at RB it is less dangerous as the CB's can cover if a cross is put in. Most full backs will make a few errors in each game. I do not have a problem with him covering at RB - just do not let him play CB.

I think you are being harsh, I do not think he should be first choice but he is adequate cover. (and I mean adequate for Div 1)

As long as he doesn't play left back, I have no problem with him starting. Right back or centre back. He won't let us down.

He would be ok if he didnt back off the attacker for 30 yards before letting him run past him.

Crewe at home last year was a perfect example of this.

He was also utter SHIT at MK Dons last year. It was basic stuff from him that cost us, I know county players who can defend better!

What a miserable bunch you lot are. Adam El-Abd is one of our more committed players and hasn't done anything more or less than any of the other members of the defence to warrant the ludicrous criticism he gets on here (which rather reminds me of some of the stick Charlie Oatway used to get).

Personally I am happier to see him at centre back than full back, but in either position at least you know you get a committed if unspectacular performance from someone who can head and tackle well.
