If this is the only left back we sign, then I am worried to be honest for next season.

Now I know we have to have faith in the club's recruitment strategy, and he could be an absolute gem, but I really don't like having only one specialist in a given position within the club, particularly one so unproven at our level.

Good luck to him of course.

The more I think about it, the more certain I am that we'll be signing another LB.

@AndyNaylorArgus: Think we are seeing the start of a younger, lower cost squad under OG with less of a say on recruitment than GP had. #bhafc
@AndyNaylorArgus: Would not think OG had much to do with Chicksen transfer. That one more Burke/Bloom. #bhafc
@AndyNaylorArgus: Still anticipate one or two OG signings from Spain. Next tweets will be from there. #bhafc

What do we really know of Burke to know if this is good or not?

Whats all this height malarky?? Ashley Cole is probably one of the best in the world at left back and he is 5'8/5'9 on tip toes. This young prospect is one of the 2 left backs that are coming in surely this is obvious.

Anyone checked out the MK Dons forum. They all seem quite bitter they have lost this player

Interesting. According to some on there, he's better as a right back!

Still, he looks to be a promising young player who might actually suit Championship football more than League 1.

Chicksen won't be playing for the Development squad. He's a young promising left back who will take advantage of the vacant position. Great signing to be honest, he'll fit in the side well.

Chicksen may well turn out to be an astute signing but I hope that we've got as seasoned left back with Championship experience up our sleeves as well. I'd hate to think that we'll be starting the new season with a rookie left back.

Interesting and certainly backs up the point that well be making use of young players more now in order to comply with FFFP with perhaps a 15 of older more experienced and the rest made up of youngsters. Personally I think that would be good for our future, it did worry me Poyet only signing 30+ players. It makes a nice change in step to sign someone that's a) young and b) English.

Absolutely no way that he will be viewed as a starter. I can see him being brought in to provide cover for a number of positions.

If he proves himself pre season, who will keep him out? We only have Maksimenko as a lefty don't we?

Perseus off the mark as normal. Fullback is traditionally the one place where being small can be an advantage. The important thing, given our defence, is that he is quick and can read the game to cover. Hopefully he has the first and can learn the second.

For once I agree with Naylor, this is a signing Gus would not have tolerated and it demonstrates Burke's more prominent role now Garcia is in place. Provided we keep the key experienced players (especially Bridcutt) then I am comfortable with younger (cheaper) English players being drafted in. Expect JFC to have a much more prominent role now too.

Question raised by another poster earlier but not seen an answer so posting again.

What signings have we made that have come directly from David Burke or what signings has he been the insigator for elsewhere ?

I have faith in him but I didnt like the above tweets saying that looks like OG wont have much say in transfers as its Bloom and Burke. Not for me that set up , IMO manager should get full and final say after taking advice from scouts

I think Buckley and Bergkamp are both reportedly his signings. I imagine much, if not all, of the DS squad is as well.

My guess, and it's only a guess is that with a limited budget OG cant be expected to suddenly fill every position needed in such a short space of time having just taken over the role. Our own scouting department will have had players like Chicksen on their radar for some time now. It would be unfair to expect OG to be able to pull quality left backs out of a hat for a reasonable price as well as other attacking and midfield players he's trying to recruit.

Current recruiting imo will be a mix of players currently on our own scouting radar and those Oscar genuinely thinks he can bring in from Spain and elsewhere.
