Adam Birchall - Might be worth a punt!?

I've seen him play several times, very lively, I know we've been here before with non-league strikers several times but...........

MARTIN HAYES says Adam Birchall is the Wayne Rooney of non-league football.

Birchall's 29 goals this season, 11 in the FA Cup, have attracted the attention of a host of League clubs.

But Hayes - who nutured Millwall striker Steve Morison when he managed Bishop's Stortford -
reckons there are not many pro clubs that can accomodate Birchall and only a Premier League or Championship outfit would be able to prise him away from the Kent coast.

He said: "Adam is in a very niche market - not many clubs can properly accomodate him in the lower leagues. He needs to be in a team that plays good football, passing through midfield, and not in a side that is direct.

I seem to remeber us being interested in him a few years ago when he was at Barnet. Obviously his career went the other way.

Cannot see Holroyd wanting to drop out of league football considering he did OK at Stevenage. I think we might need to get cover at some point for Painter as no real left back cover going forward. Also agree we need to off load some of the forwards we have at the moment although Sandaza is still unproven and needs a fair run in the side before we can make a proper assessment of his abilities

FORECAST.................he will have a good game in a losing side against Huddersfield tomorrow and they will sign him to add to their collection of forwards

IMO - worth a punt on the back of playing well in a cup run in the same way as DJ Campbell a few years back

Decent British strikers are a rarity. How many punts from non-league have made a career for themselves and how many punts from non-league are capable of playing League One (and above)?
