You think it’s mad we loan out a 20 year old who has played a handful of games and who none of us have even seen play?

He did say, "unless we sign someone else"

I think the deeper point is, If we are left until at least January with Maupay (doing well but inconsistent), Welbeck (Class but serial sicknote) and Connolly (tantrums, Barndoors and Banjos) that is a real lack of depth, especially if Maupay were to get injured..... Others will cite Tross but he's not really a number 9 or out and out attacker.

Then without someone else coming in, it would be crazy to loan out an available striking option (Sima) and limit our available options to only those above. Could easily see scenarios where Maupay is suspended/Injured and it's just Connolly available.

We'll all be praying for Maupay's fitness each night.

Oh I absolutely agree. We are still short in a couple of positions and up front definitely feels light and an issue. But that’s no more a reason that Sima would contribute than it was Zeqiri would.
I have no doubt we are looking for a more experienced and proven striker, someone who would come straight in to first team reckoning, but for whatever reason this hasn’t happened, again. I just don’t think we should rest our hopes on the young players we sign because it’s been proven time and time again they’re nowhere near the incredibly high level we now compete at.

And you also have to consider loss of form.

I think he's started the season really well, but his form was abysmal for long stretches last season. This could easily happen again. It's very unhealthy to have players who are, in effect, undroppable no matter how badly they are playing

I think it’s mad there is a possibility that we land up with Maupay,Wellback and Connolly as our only strikers.

Me too. But it doesn’t mean this guy will contribute anymore than someone like Karbow has who was more experienced and plays a position we’ve been similarly short in.

Simply not good enough, need a First team ready striker - not another U23 prospect, Connelly not good enough to challenge for first 11, Welbeck injury prone and that leaves Maupay as a definite starter no matter what - that cannot be right

"Simply not good enough". Very funny and needy.

Who made you the judge of what is good enough? Are you Potter, Ashworth or Bloom?

For all you and we know, Potter may be perfectly happy with what he has now it looks like Cucurella is joining as he gives us multiple options and the fact we generally just play with one central striker anyway.

Everyone in football knows getting a good striker is really difficult, and expensive. IF we are looking for another striker and IF we can't get our number one target (lets assume that is Nunez), then I would much rather we saved our money than waste it on a second rate option we're not as confident about and go with what we have.

Yes, if we have NOT signed another striker (as I clearly stated).

Connelly would be brilliant if we'd signed him. Maybe we could do a swap for Connolly. Houghton would know what to do ............................

Then you concede likely 5th season hovering above (hopefully) the relegation places. Not the top 10 Tony says he wants.

I must admit, if in this long window we only sign a striker prospect for the future, I will be a tad gutted. Concerned about enduring another season where Potter hasn’t got the full set of tools to achieve the results our general play often deserves.

Or signing a goal scoring midfielder with pace, ready for the first team.

Maupay - I rate him, but as we saw on Saturday he isn’t always the answer.
Welbeck - love the player, but he’s injury prone.
Connolly - imho way off being an EPL goalscorer just now. Would love to be proved wrong.

I hope Bloom surprises us all today and deals with this. Loanees welcome.

Pretty sure he's the guy that scored an insane goal running basically through the entire team against Prague club I kinda follow Viktoria Zizkov. Saw it on club/news social media ages ago and hoping it is although not the best opposition and fairly sure was a friendly.

Would have thought he'll be cover for this season and settle in on the training ground and in the city/country basically doing the Zequiri role from last season with a few minutes and fresh legs occasionally off the bench. Next season Zequiri will be back to compete properly for starts and hopefully push out Connolly completely while Sima could in turn go to a top Euro league for regular gametime on loan then. Likely to at least make our money back if either sold whilst being much less risky than buying someone like Locadia. Have to spend huge on proven or take very young 'free hit' gambles we can break even on when they don't make it. Not the awkward middle ground expecting their career move, starting spot and wages when not yet top tier.

To think signing one striker is enough to propel us almost half way up the table is such a basic premise.

Is it? Check out last season’s stats. Every pundit on the planet. Our obvious recruitment targets. Basic premise that is 100% correct!

Where would Leeds be without Bamford?
Where would Palace be without Zaha?
Where would Southampton have been without Ings?
