Can't see what is wrong with the current format or is it change for changes sake.

The current system gives a 60/40 advantage to the team that wins the toss and goes first. So, essentially, winning the toss is the game-changer moment. Not good.

So who decides which team takes the first one then and how will taking a penalty ever not be stressful.

Still the toss (I presume) but going first all the way through to have a 60/40 advantage won't be an option - neither team will continually be playing catch-up. You seem to have some sort of objection to the ABBA system - care to tell us what you think is wrong with it?

Wouldn't it have been more appropriate to have said 'I think you have just announced your 'arrival' at Waterloo?
Well, maybe.......but very controversial.....should have played 'Mornington Crescent' when the opportunity presented itself..............

Shirley that could have been resolved by using The Beach Boys system of penalty kicks

But then there'd be arguments about whether to play Tudor court Rules or not... still be controversial

Silly old bat
Been broke a long time then, hadn't noticed.
Both teams take penalties till one scores more than the other, not complicated really.

But, as has been pointed out, the team that wins the toss of a coin, and kicks first, is statistically more likely to win.
