In 1974 my wife was working on the jewellery department in Wades, Western Road. A group of young foreigners arrived one day - and, with broken English, spent over an hour purchasing numerous glittery items.

The next evening, she recognised some of the same group, calling themselves Abba, from Sweden win the Eurovision Song Contest at the Dome wearing a selection of her trinklets.

She had also recommended a boutique in Waterloo Street that sold kinky silver knee length boots, a specialist shop in Ship Street that specialised in shimmering belly hugging bloomers and in response to a guy called Sven's enquiry directed him to a fancy dress shop in Duke Street to hire special French gear. My wife pointed out to the boy's that if they wanted something done with their hair - Trafalgar Street was the place to go.

I still have faith in you

If you liked them 45 years ago you still will based on the two songs I’ve listened to. The blokes can still write classic pop songs and the aptly titled one above is exactly that - unmistakeable - two hooks - oldie MORs like me may appreciate

I have been watching this on the news this morning.
I have noticed that not once did you see Agnethas face full on but you did see the other 3.
Agnetha became a recluse for many years but she did do that thing with Gary Barlow not so long ago.
If you look at past videos, while Anni-Frid was happy to flash her pants, Agnetha was very careful not to.
Which for such a beautiful woman is a big personal loss for me.

I hope they keep with 70s style production.

Their music with modern production will sound a bit odd imo. Or even worse, like Steps.

I listened to some of the stuff and it was shite. Sorry.
Not for me either, My Mrs loves them bless her. Cleverly written though the success has been built around three word hooks, money money money and gimme gimme gimme.

Interestingly they are to pocket in the region of £1b with this comeback tour good luck to them.

Wow really. Whilst enjoying their music I am no expert and hadn't realised their success was built around those 2 songs.

Me neither until I listened to an expert on the subject apparently it’s true. People might not particularly have an interest in ABBA yet they will mentality know money money money due to repetition radio play etc.

The start, sounds like ramblings from an OAP in old folks home, terribly cliched music, that wouldn’t be out of place at Pontins….

They are OAPs !

I'm not sure about the opening few bars. But once the music kicks in I LOVE it.

It's like they never left. And to think they are in their mid-70s.

Exactly they are OAPS, it’s like their repeating themselves over, and over, and over, again…..

Well, if you liked it the first time round, you'll still love it. I felt a little wee go down my leg as I stared expressionless into my watery plate of mince. Riveting.

What was it you said ?
