Not really. Sorry if I'm being thick but I'm not seeing the connection. Take Connolly out of the equation you still have 3 very different blokes as far as I can see. Anxiety x 1, depression x 1 and dunno what Rashford's problem is or if he even has one.
Moving on (to other players who are not fulfilling their potential, if that's the theme, not entirely sure now) what about Deli Alli. How he manage to keep himself together as long as he did without a complete meltdown, I have no idea.
Meanwhile, there's Danny Drinkwater, George Best, Paul Merson, Joey Barton....
In all cases we don't really know what the bottom line is, what the problem is. Out of the lot, there's only one, maybe two that I'd sneer at (not that I'm suggesting you're sneering. My recollection of your post history is that you're better than that
). The rest seem like blokes with personal issues.

Maybe OP used the wrong phrasing, but he should have gone out on loan sooner - but Aaron didn’t want to , Tony had concerns about him being away from the club - and our lack of striking options made it tough. In hindsight I’m sure it’s pretty widely accepted he should have been given a loan
OK. Maybe. I feel that were he capable of amounting to anything, he would have done. The fact (if it is a fact) he has 'people' suggests that he has created his own path. The only question for me is whether he was ever sufficiently competent to be allowed to set his own path. I'm not prepared to throw him in the sea for the occasional acts of bell-endery, but that still doesn't mean he is, or would ever be, any good. On that basis I don't consider that a lack of early loan period is responsible for his downfall.
Edit: but it could be though. We will never know.

A question I have, is what are these loans supposed to provide a player? And what’s stopping a player getting the same benefits of a loan at a later stage in their career? My point being is there a significance difference going on loan to Venice/Boro/Hull in 2019/20 as opposed to 2 years later when he actually did go? Surely he could have reaped the similar benefits?

Just in my opinion (but almost definitely also the club’s), a loan should be about a mutual fit based on the player’s level of development (ability), their personality (humans being different; not all business owners/actors/footballers/teachers/doctors/builders share one personality simply because they share a profession) and their own wishes.
In Connolly’s case, he was thrown in against Spurs and had a blinding result. But there weren’t an army of model professionals of a good standard battering down the door.
He was pushed very hard, very fast going from playing at Lancing to battling for Premier League survival points, and some people need a bit more exposure.
Like going from getting raves in a school play to doing West End. Sometimes a middle ground is needed for certain personalities
I guess the chance to develop and learn at a lower level. Being one of the ‘main men’ or cameo subs off the bench for a PL side chasing top half finishes is a pretty high level for a player with no professional experience of football

He should have gone on loan the January after the Spurs match, or at least in Summer 2020. Hindsight's wonderful, eh?
..............................except I'm not the only one who thought so at the time. Such thoughts might even have been expressed on NSC if anybody can be bothered to find them! (That particular Connolly thread was removed, I think?)

But he did get the “middle ground” as he went on loan to a bunch of clubs albeit at a slightly later stage in his career. He was given every opportunity after the 2019/2020 season but it seems he’s not good enough.

Then a year or so later the narrative became “he should have gone on a loan spell / he was badly handled”.
At the time there was a lot of people on NSC saying he should go on loan. Sadly the thread got deleted when Mustafa flounced and had his posts deleted (as he started the thread the whole lot disappeared).
Oh, was that what happened? Cheers then - looking back over this thread I had a few WTF moments myself!
