Because I had to make a choice between making that joke or the one I went forSo why piss them off with a man child that thought he'd made it and didn't have to bother anymore?

It’s not that…it’s the nature of the comments, in amongst some reasoned discussion, the level of vitriol is . I just don’t get mentality of some of our own fans being so eager to destroy someone who is still ‘one of our own’. It’s not just Connolly, there are always one or two targets. Just me I guessI agree it’s outrageous views and opinions of a player being discussed on a fans forum.
I suspect some of the vitriol is in proportion to the excitement when he first started (I'd guess that some of the people who are most scathing now were the most excited then, but I'm not going to go back and check that). It’s not that…it’s the nature of the comments, in amongst some reasoned discussion, the level of vitriol is . I think the majority are just frustrated that it seems to be an attitude problem as much as anything. We don't know actually how talented he is because he never seems to have fully applied himself. The number of "spotted in nightclub" incidents are neither fiction nor coincidence. It’s not that…it’s the nature of the comments, in amongst some reasoned discussion, the level of vitriol is . More Swansman's insistence that people must be making up stories about Aaron to bully him.I suspect some of the vitriol is in proportion to the excitement when he first started (I'd guess that some of the people who are most scathing now were the most excited then, but I'm not going to go back and check that).
For some people it'll be tied up with arguing with Swansman, who I basically like as a poster, but sometimes has a writing style that could turn Arthur Scargill off socialism.

He's not got that long left to turn it round. If he did and we ended up with a decent striker after all I think everyone would be delighted.
Indeed. Every time Swansmann aggressively accuses people of "bullying" Connolly then people have to again justify their point of view. And so the circle revolves.I suspect some of the vitriol is in proportion to the excitement when he first started (I'd guess that some of the people who are most scathing now were the most excited then, but I'm not going to go back and check that).

Some people just need to have a player to hate....but we know when he's gone there will be another target.......
That sounds about right. If he was a top player, it would have been apparent more often than that Spurs game, regardless of his private life. The party boy image is a red herring. The bigger problem is that Aaron lacks the talent and ruthlessness to ever be a top striker.
The hype boils down to one game years ago and a good youth record. Big deal.
He will find his level. It was never going to be in the premier league though, more likely League One. He doesn’t deserve hate for this. Also, it’s certainly not his fault that the club was stupid enough to offer him such a generous contract.
And this is something the player needs to accept himself, and take the step down but play more often and becoming the best he can at that level. He will find his level. It was never going to be in the premier league though, more likely League One. H
And Swansman somehow just cannot understand that Sussex is a small place and members of the public regularly have interactions with Brighton players, especially ones that are out on the town more than anybody else, so he assumed people are making up the stories, which would be a very odd thing to do. I'm sure it's different if you support Spurs or someone as London is a huge city, but Brighton isn't.More Swansman's insistence that people must be making up stories about Aaron to bully him.
No. He has a favourite nightclub in Brighton and everyone knows where it is and he's not exactly hiding away at other times.
This, I think some of the vitriol is because he is on an over inflated wage, and everyone knows that, but that is not his fault by any stretch of the imagination. The party boy image is a red herring. The bigger problem is that Aaron lacks the talent and ruthlessness to ever be a top striker.

I'm not sure it's a red herring. It's clearly not the only problem, but if someone is struggling to cut it at the top level then having that kind of lifestyle is going to make it impossible for them. Players who aren't really quite good enough for the Premier League can still make it if they dedicate their lives to it and make the necessary sacrifices. Players who aren't quite good enough but also don't apply themselves properly are never going to make it. Connolly clearly has the talent (and has put the work in, it's not all about talent) to make it as a professional footballer, there should be no doubt about that, but it is not going to be with us and it's not going to be in the Premier League. it's already too late. The best case scenario for him is going to be getting a contract at Charlton or somewhere like that and carving out a career there, possibly making it into the Championship at some stage. Sadly, I think banging in the goals for Galway United is probably a more likely scenario. The party boy image is a red herring. The bigger problem is that Aaron lacks the talent and ruthlessness to ever be a top striker.

It isn't his fault, but the argument is that he is not doing anything to justify it, which is (partly) his fault. Fans spend thousands of pounds to watch these guys every season, and if one of them is being paid more in a week than they are in a year and doesn't seem to be taking it seriously, then that's never going to sit right. I agree though, I hope he finds his level and sorts his life out, and we can all move on. He can score against us in the cup for Notts County or someone and cup his ear at us and everyone will be happy. This, I think some of the vitriol is because he is on an over inflated wage, and everyone knows that, but that is not his fault by any stretch of the imagination.
I think you are right a good league one team or lower Championship team are his level, and hopefully he finds happiness playing the game and proves his doubters wrong. He is clearly talented and one of the lucky few that make it as a professionally, let us just put it down to experience our end and let him get on with his life.
I wouldn't describe being in the Shed End as a holiday.Haven’t seen Swansman on here for a while, is he on holiday?
Oh reallyI wouldn't describe being in the Shed End as a holiday.
Does GP have to hold his hands up to that to a degree?‘Adaption issues’. Seems surprising, Aaron Connolly and Venice seemed like the perfect match. I really thought he’d knuckle down and do well there.
Couldn’t cut it Boro, couldn’t cut it at Venezia, how many stops are there left before Crawley Town?
I don’t think the club managed him very well after those goals against Spurs, he should have gone on loan somewhere. Being a striker went against him, as we were desperate for goals and hoped he was the answer. But he’s had two more chances now and hasn’t taken either of them. What level club would now actually buy him? Can’t see higher than League One.
