Actually I think it's a conspiracy between the government and the oil companies. Both have a vested interest in making driving as slow as possible so that you all burn up as much petrol as possible. Lots of revenue!
So by cycling, or indeed using public transport, you are hitting the two most hated companies where it hurts.

Even more reason to leave the car behind.

I would agree with that if it keeps the menace of cyclists off of the pavement.

Incidentally I got fined 5s in 1956 for riding on a pavement doing my paper round.

Quality fine how many weeks did it take to pay that one off, was the copper a real jobsworth, these days you would have an ASBO and would not then have been able to deliver the papers.

Were all the papers broadsheets then.

Although they could have done the obvious and bulldozed the parade of shops in Rottingdean and the crap pub and run 2 lanes.

That was the plan that was beaten off by the Rottingdean "Preservation Society" years ago. God knows why. Those shops (on the left as you go down the hill from Saltdean) are not much more than concrete beach huts - with nothing attractive about them at all.

I'm sure that, if there were NO traffic issues to be sorted out, the Preservation Society would have been campaigning to get rid of the shops on the grounds that they were just an eyesore.

It's a cunning plan by the car hating lefties. Make driving so goddam difficult and expensive, then force the plebs onto public transport. Doesn't matter if it's shit, at least it's 'public' transport.
What's 'shit' about 10 buses an hour at busy times and a fare of £10 a week for a journey from Seaford to Brighton?

At the moment, the shittest thing about it is that you'll get stuck in traffic. If this scheme means you'll get your journey completed quicker than by car, I don't see a problem.

So can anyone explain how this works?

I see new sets of traffic lights the removal of roundabouts etc.. If the bus is behind traffic on the A259 in the morning does the bus now overtake the cars? How is it going to work

My guess is that the Bus/Taxi lane will be on the south (sea) side of the A259 going into Rottingdean . They have removed all the mini roundabouts and islands and replaced with a lot of pelican crossings, so you can just about get three lanes of traffic in. There could also be a bus/taxi lane on the north side from Ovingdean to Rottingdean but cannot see one on the north side after the Rottingdean lights.

I suppose this a good idea. I do feel sorry for the people that bother to get the bus everyday and get held up in traffic.

I can see more people abandoning their cars, because its going to snarl up the A259 even more. Anyone fancy opening up bike shop with me?

Having waited in Seaford for a 12 bus to Eastbourne this morning for over 25 minutes when there should be a bus every 10 minutes I will very pleased if buses can keep to timetable.
