Surely the point of an exercise like this is to have problems thinking through your routine. If you got all the players straight away, it wouldn't get you to sleep. Personally I "think" my way round local golf courses, and I rarely get past about hole 9. Works better than counting green sheep on a Shoreham roundabout (see what I did there, segweigh between two current threads).

Meopham, Kent.
I had one lof those insomniac moments last night and foolishly decided that one way of getting to sleep would be to try and name an ex Albion player's surname for each letter of the alphabet.

I got stuck on I, O, Q and Y (having decided X is impossible) and spent ages racking my brain before finally getting Eric Young at around sunrise. Someone put me out of my misery for I, O and Q please!

I have done this before, but permitted myself a little latitude with X and Q, allowing names with those letters in them anywhere. Still not an easy task.

Ramon Quiroga - 'El Loco' - the Argentinian-born Peruvian goalkeeper, who let Argentina score six past Peru, when the former needed four goals to get into the 1978 World Cup Final.

I thought we may have had a Quinn in there as in Micky, Jimmy, Niall etc

Yeah admittedly it was a futile attempt to help me to sleep. Problem is once you think of something like this it's impossible to get it out of your head.

My favourite way to get to sleep is to think of a test team for a particular test - say, the Lord's test against the 1968 Australians. I've generally nodded off before I've reached the seamers
