yeah I know most of you HATE motor sport but you gotta admit its AMAZING that both these blokes WALKED away without a scratch........imagine YOU involved in something like this!

Alexander Premat at Adria in Italy during the DTM race:

Fabian Coulthard at the Bathurst 1000 V8 Supercar Race in Australia last month, bearing in mind he's doing 180mph at turn in!
This first video listen to the crowds reaction!

its fantastic, in a literal sence, how racing cars protect their drivers today

im amazed when bikes have crashes like that, slideing down the trak or run off for hundreds of meters.

then they get back on the bike for the next race, probably with broken bones.

In my computer
christ that was some huge air, did they walk away? looks like his/her head hiot the tires on the way down then a nasty looking neck injury when contacting the gravel :(

Thankfully fine. Odd though to hear of a duratec engine in a Formula Ford personally. It does have a roll cage, although that is only good if you're strapped in tight and or the stretch in your seat belt doesn't allow you in excess of the roll bar. A friend of ours had a shunt in an alfa and hit the roll cage some 15 inches from his seat (effectively his head hit the roll over bar in the middle of where the passengers head would have been). He was fine, although with a painful neck for a while which resolved itself with treatment. Which is how much flex is in the seat and the roll cage. Motosport is dangerous. Have no doubt.

Blimey, all bad crashes...the thing that occurred to me was how close some of the debris, particularly in the first crash, came to hitting the marshals and spectators. There is no doubt that motor racing is dangerous, not just for the drivers but also those who go along to watch.

debris does fly into the crowd on occasions, check the NASCAR video below (Seven fans sustained minor injuries).

When I was at the National HotRod World Final at Ipswich (early 90s forget the exact date) a wheel came off a car, flew over the huge chain-link safety fences and killed someone on the other side....not nice. Marshalls have been killed aswell, it does happen but very rarely thankfully.
