What was particularly sad was that Dicker, Noone and Harley all had everything to play for but turned out to be the 3 most disappointing players on the pitch.

Anyone know if Adam ElAbd is injured or just not picked? It seems that Dunk is a little unreliable from the comments I have read.

I thought we passed it well apart from when we got in crossing positions.

The game turned on poor defending on the Swindon free kick and their keeper making a great save from that beautiful Vicente turn and shot.

As said elsewhere, Harley, Dicker, Dunk and Noone didn't do themselves many favours in staying in the first 11.

Where was Sparrow?

The league is a long slog, not going to lose any sleep going out of that cup first round.

Those 60 yard through balls will be more effective on a large pitch , umm where are we playing on Saturday ?

In among all the absurd ramblings tonight I have to agree that the depth of the squad is a worry and Craig will be very disappointed with his performance tonight.

El Abd, Crofts, Buckley, Lua Lua, CMS all to come back. And our two new signings next week. Don't panic.

If El-Abd, Crofts, Buckley, KLL & CMS had been fit and playing tonight, we would not have lost (IMO).
.
El-Abd obvious, but who would you have started the other 4 in front of it they were available. I dont it would have made one bit of difference if they were all available. Crofts and maybe Buckley would have been the only ones who would have started.

In the grand scheme of things, i am not really bothered about tonight. Slightly concerned at the performance of Dunk and Greer but at the end of the day we can now concentrate on the bread and butter. Need a new striker though.... Lively

West Bromwich Albion The Hawthorns 26,360
Crystal Palace Selhurst Park 26,225
Hull City KC Stadium 25,404
Bradford City Valley Parade 25,136
Wigan Athletic DW Stadium 25,133
Fulham Craven Cottage 25,700

El-Abd for Dunk
Crofts, KLL & Buckley in for Harley, Noone and Dicker

Crofts and Bridcutt in the middle, KLL & Buckley wide, Vicente sitting behind Barnes with a free role to do what he wants :)

My biggest concern is that we still played an unbalanced system with one winger, but that might be due to the injuries.

Biggest positive was Bruno and Kucscacacacack

On another night Barnes or Vicente would have taken their chances and it could have been a very different outcome, Navarro scoring twice? Funny old game...

Pasty that's not going to work especially away from home.

KLL and Buckley rarely start together. Poyets doesn't play two wide men.

Thats the point. Everyone seems to think the players missing tonight would make a difference, but whilst I agree Crofts will start, i only see one of Buckley, KLL and CMS starting, so I don't think thats the issue. The players are not the issue. The system is. Di Cano even said after the game he knew how we played, and he didnt give one toss that we had more possession.

At least this year because were out of the cup we won't have to play Liverpool on a wednesday Leeds on the Friday then get stuffed by palace on the Tuesday which then resulted in another 8 games without a win . For me the league is so much more important I'd rather play 38 games in premier league next year than one glory night by beating or losing again to the likes of liverpool in the mickey mouse cup , it was a poor performance tonight but will be a good motivation for a great performance & result on Saturday when the season starts for real :albion2:

Pork pie land.
Hopefully, it will make sure that whoever is holding back on signing the "gem" striker and imposing midfielder, will now understand the urgency. I get the impression it is frustrating Gus, just as much as the lack of the same key players did last year.
