Wow. Is that for real??
Yup. It cost £17 million, is called the monument to the African Renaissance and was built by North Koreans, who do specialise in giant Soviet-esque statues. There was just a smidgen of criticism over its construction, in a country where even the capital suffers from regular power blackouts and large swathes of the population live in absolute poverty. They're hoping it will draw loads of tourists to Dakar...
