Augustiner is where it's at - I'll be drinking their Dunkel (dark beer) every game that Dunk(el) starts!

When it comes to Pilsners my favourites have to be Rothaus, Jever and Augustiner. Augustiner Helles and Edelstof are easy to come by, their pils not so. As @Yes Chef has mentioned, Fürst Wiacek are a great local craft brewer now making noises on the internatonal market, they are the kings of hazy pale ales imho; lovely guys who deserve their success.

I'm a lover of Cologne, its Christmas markets and the many many Kolsch brew pubs & restaurants.
My very first experience of being put onto a table that already had 6 others on it and a choice of 1 Kolsch beer sold it to me. Told no phones and no internet we had a very good evening chatting with the other 6 who tried to converse with us as best they could. Almost empty glass gets replaced within seconds and another tick on the beermat. Even our hotel had it's own brewery.

We had a lovely afternoon at Augustiner in Munich last year. Glad to see you can easily buy it in Worthing now at £3-£3.50 a bottle as well

Was quite amused in Der Englische Garten in Munich to see that just about everybody was drinking beer. Even young mums jogging through the park pushing a pushchair would drop in for a swift half 😄

Seeing that orange drink there reminded me that Fanta was created by the Nazis in 1940 due to US embargoes preventing them from being able to get Coca-Cola.
I didn't know this (not that I ever drink Fanta anyway).

I love this bit from the Wikipedia page:

"In February 2015, a 75th-anniversary version of Fanta was released in Germany... An associated television ad referenced the history of the drink and said the Coca-Cola company wanted to bring back "the feeling of the Good Old Times" which was interpreted by many to mean Nazi rule. The ad was subsequently replaced."

Apparently Fanta in its current form was invented in Italy in the 50s, incidentally.
