If you put a 1p coin on the first square of a chess board, then 2 on the second square, 4 on the third square, and kept doubling it right up to the 64th and last square, how high would the stack of coins be on the final square?

Yep, the stack would reach the moon..............

and back.

Amazing but true,

What it is then? ? ?

Meaning

A single instance of something is just that; it doesn't indicate a trend.

Origin

This old proverb is listed in several early glossaries, notably Richard Taverner's transcription of the [Latin] proverbs of Erasmus - Prouerbes or adagies with newe addicions, gathered out of the Chiliades of Erasmus, 1539:

It is not one swalowe that bryngeth in somer. It is not one good qualitie that maketh a man good.

It is interesting that, even in the 16th century, the figurative meaning of the phrase was made explicit.
One swallow doesn't make a summer

I'm pretty certain I have two.

But women make up slightly more than half the human race and they have none, the average is slightly less than one testicle (and that's before you take monorchism into account)

if it was true that ones nose grew a inch everytime you told a lie, the average man would have a nose that would reach from st peters church to the moon

If you add all the number on a roulette wheel it comes to 666.

Play at your peril.

Only 2% of the cones in your eyes see blue. This is why blue neon signs are blurry.

wondered about the blurry effect for years. ta for that.

The blue whale is so big that its tongue can weigh as much as an elephant. And a child could swim through their largest veins and arteries.

If you take a 3 meter long bar to represent the entire history of the earth (4.54 bn yrs), recorded human history (~5000 yrs) would fit in about 3 microns. That is thinner than most bacteria, and only about half the width of a single chloroplast. You could wipe out all of human history with a single stroke of a file.

It also tastes exactly how you would imagine it to. Dry, tasteless and bland.

Rather you than me. Another astonishing fact about Somalia - most of the pirates there are ex-fishermen, but Somalis dislike eating fish and prefer to take camel meat out a-pirating with them, ah-harrr
