But since Xmas we are in the top three for clean sheets so inviting pressure isn’t really a problem. We never looked remotely troubled today until the red card totally changes the game.

And in the bottom three for throwing away points from leading positions. Stats prove nothing. Goals scored and defending a lead are where we have to
improve next season.

Imho a key issue is not having a pacey and devastating counter attack. So today Wolves could largely relax once we went down to ten men.

Dare I say, Eze/Zaha and Wilson/Saint-Maximin give any set of opponents a lot to think about.

Enabling them to leave 7 or 8 outfield players behind the ball at all times, the other two ready to pounce and commit daylight robbery at any moment.

Is right. We are quicker in the transition now when we win it high up but sitting back we’re not good.

Leicester is the other one. I agree with your post it’s nowhere near as big a problem as people make out. When it happens it hurts and so it sticks in the mind but it’s not been that big a problem.

We have also scored late goals against Sheffield United and Liverpool to snatch points as well as ironically what should have been a late draw against Man U if the ref hadn’t played an unwarranted extra three minutes.

That's the one! Thanks.

Agree with most of what the OP says BUT this one was down to Dunk's recklessness, and this thread and the timing of it perhaps masks that. Ironically, he was likely heading for man of the match before that.

At last! A post that makes sense.

Not one of the previous countless posts remembered we went down to ten when 1 up.

I'm prepared to consider that Potter is inexperienced and our players are a bit shitehouse, but the reason we lost today was not because Potter is inexperienced and our players are shitehouse*. Next time, maybe. Last time? No we beat The Leeds.

No problem with the OP post either. A bit of emoting is what it is.

Here is where I'm supposed to say 'but if we are in the bottom 8 next October, I'm going to burn Potter's house down', isn't it?

*Apart from Dunk, obviously. That's why he'll never play for England again. Even Stevie Wonder can see that Dunk isn't......(etc.).

That’s my feeling, if we keep 11 vs 11 we get a point minimum today and more than likely get the second goal to get all 3.

Triore would still have played a part and still would of rinsed Burn why Potter gives possibly the fastest player in the PL an easy time is baffling total mismatch.

I still think a large majority of Albion fans are easily pleased and are more hoping things will improve next season with no real idea how. Potter can’t seem to change the decision making of the front players wrong decisions wrong runs over playing has been a familiar story in the final third.

I was out today with no way of following the game.

Imagine my huge surprise upon arriving home to discover we had lost 2-1 to a 90th minute goal after having dominated for a period and going one up plus Maupay’s mouth got himself a red card after the final whistle. Given the number of times we’ve shot ourselves in both feet this season, no wonder we are still limping over the line when everyone else is home and hosed. FFS.

Roll on next season please.

Thank fck we have 37 points in the bag.

Our final fixtures always looked daunting when we were shit, now we’re facing two of them without Dunk.

Psychologically, today’s lead turned into a loss and the red cards, kind of ends the season for me early.

Imho, we won’t top 38 points. Is that progress?

The Astral Planes, man...
"You can't win anything with kids" Alan Hansen 1995.
It's all very well to bring youth through the ranks but we also need to bring nous/ experience/ gamesmanship etc into the games.
Perhaps we should recruit an irritating prat like Joey Barton to coach the necessary S****horpeishness into the side....

Relax. We are going to beat West Ham, so we’ll get to 40pts minimum [emoji106]

If Antonio’s playing I think we will get bullied into conceding, just like we did today with Traore. Albion can’t cope with either of them

You presumably missed the bit when we brought in Welbeck and Lallana? ........ oh, and Veltman.

Oh well, not everybody is always paying attention, I suppose.

....and come to think of it, IIRC, turned out that Hansen was wrong .................................

Very positive to stay up. Very positive to play such attractive football and literally not get outclassed completely all season. Clearly making huge improvements.

On the other hand you’re exactly right Weststander - we have a lot to learn still. Game management / silly errors and not seeing games off when we’re so dominant.

Overall it’s a 7/10 season for me. Annoying we can’t go. Great we’ve stayed up. Not enough progress on the points column to reflect it.

I think we need to get a striker and go for it. Even if we lose Biss and or White, we have enough talent there to be ok in those departments. Sell some of the fringe players / those not getting much look in (clear who those are). And use the funds and wages freed up to go for a genuine striker - like that Nunez guy last year - I think we will if the right opportunity presents itself.

...and how many of those were playing today? Just the nice Mr Welbeck.

This club apparently does it's homework on the players but only recruits the socially acceptable ones, what we need are a few nut-jobs to see the games out.
