To be fair, I'd imagine pretty much most league one fans will have the same opinion of our team.

The only team who stand out as promotion candidates are Southampton and that's because of the money they have spunked.

Agreed - I think it's good if other fans don't see us as real promotion contenders - no pressure etc...

Huddersfield? They've made fantastic signings.
I'm sure they have, although not as high a profile as Southampton.

And that's the point really - I really wouldn't have a clue which teams are looking significantly better than they did last season.

Barnes... scored 4 goals in 8 games last season, that's a similar if not better goal scoring record than Murray if I'm not mistaken?

I would argue they are far more high profile than Southampton.

Southampton have signed Ryan Dickson and Frazer Richardson from Brentford and Charlton.

Whilst Huddersfield have signed Joey Gudjonsson, Gary Naysmith, Ian Bennett, Lee Croft, John McCombe and Scott Arfield.

I think they're looking stronger than Southampton.

Sheffield Wednesday have also made some excellent signings.

To be fair is anyone a serious threat to Southampton. I can see them pissing the league and getting over 100 points.

They have Pardew as manager so they won't be pissing the league

Did an amazing job turning Reading from shite to a top championship side.

Good manager

Really? They had a big shiny new ground, a big budget and it took him 2 seasons of choking before they snook up behind us having led the league by quite a few points over Xmas. Correct me if I'm wrong but that is how I saw it. Reading should have run away with the equivalent of league 1 for three years on the trot.

He did do quite well in the Champonship with Reading and at West Ham though. I think his tactics may make him yesterday's man now though. We'll see.

If you take off the blue tinted specs for a short while and look at the Albion through the eyes of an opposing fan, you will understand why they're not talking up our chances.

We've had relegation battles two years in a row and finished last season just below half way. Other fans don't see us week in, week out, so they have no idea how well we might have played for some of that time, and while the players we've signed may excite us, there's not much reason why a fan of Rochdale, Bournemouth, Huddersfield or Colchester would pay any attention to the likes of Calderon or Barnes.

We finished roughly on a par with Brentford last season, and nobody's talking their chances up. Other clubs only see the statistics, which are that we were a mediocre to average side for most of last season, and thus are likely to be the same again next time.

We know (hope) different, but you can't blame them for thinking it.

They spent so long waffling on about our history I barely made it to the tiny bit at the bottom(before falling asleep) which was as brief an over view of the team as you could get.

What about a Brighton view of Southampton:

'Shithole of a town with a football club lucky enough not to have been consigned to the dark oblivion of bankruptcy.

An utter tool of a manager, the most depressing sea front of any urban area in the solar system, the most overpriced taxis I have ever come across, a dearth of great places to eat and all the soul and heart of a dead goat.

Yet more southampton hype. They punched above their weight in the top division with a dodgy pitch, got found out at St Marys.

they are a Championship club that will get occaisional spells in the top div and div 1, There are LOADS of teams that fit that bill. There are any number of "suprise" packages in this div. How do you think colchester and scunthorpe got out of it?

It usually involves a change in management, then cash plus signings. We fit that bill.

You could of said of last season the same when Mickey Adams took over.
