Rushden and Diamonds are now ground sharing with Wellingborough Town.
Playing in the Evostik Northern Premier League First Division South
Looking to move back to their original ground in Rushden but need funds to convert it to league standards.
Great little club - fans saved them and are trying to keep it going.
Regularly get 700 attendance in a league where other clubs are getting 50-100

The football club abandoned it after 9 just years. Darlington the town has the same population as Eastbourne. Their stadium was never viable.

To be fair, there's not actually a match on in that photo.

Sad times, and later this year when the new development is completed there will be no signs that a football ground ever existed there.

Actually I thought it was a brave vision at the time. He had hoped to reduce ticket prices, take a few thousand off Boro and maybe even the other two and get 7,000 regularly with the capacity to host Premier league fixtures.

There's not that much wrong with any of that. MK Dons survive on those gates, Wigan were getting 1200 a game before moving to their place, and the size of the town never tells the whole story in terms of potential - Gelsenkirchen is the size of Croydon (maybe smaller) and Schalke get 70,000 a game.

Where it went wrong was that the owner was a stubborn **** who took exception to any criticism whatsoever and alienated the very people he needed to make his project work. Consequently, people just turned their back on him and wanted him out.
