A not-quite-so-hypothetical question...
If I buy a return ticket from my Somerset backwater to Brighton and, on the way back, one train runs so late that I miss a connection, and it's the last connection of the night, effectively stranding me in Southampton, do I have any comeback on the railway?
Or am I just stuffed, and have to stump up for a hotel, if I can find one, before continuing the journey the next day?
