It would be great to get ‘that’ striker who will bang in the goals, but the ‘chances’ we’re supposed to be creating are not ‘gilt edged’, they’re mostly half arsed half chances. The strikers we have would thrive on better service, but we struggle in the final third to split defences.
In answer to the OP, GP’s time will be up if we go down and he fails to deliver in the Championship(top2). And even if he were to go now, or soon, or in a month, I really don’t see who is realistically available to replace him and take us forwards.

I’ve listened to the pro Potters argument and to be honest it’s weak on one hand you brand out the chances created stats and ignore the one home win in a year, 20% win rate, conceding at set plays, not beating teams around us. There is a lot more to football than ‘well we could of won’ if only...

That team selection last night wasn’t from a confident manager it was from a man completely out of his depth at this level, how can you go from a decent performance against West Ham two goals scored to six changes against a poor Arsenal side. I doubt you will but try to look further than chances created as a bench mark.

But a question for all the pro Potter fans

When would you call for him to be sacked if things did not improve ?

It’s easy to ask this question when we’re in the middle of a very tough run of form. Let’s look at edges. If we were losing every game 3 or 4 nil, then yes, I would want Potter out. If we lost every game, I would want him out.

Currently we’re drawing too much. So that’s results.

When you drill down to performance we should have more points. We seem to have the ability to make better teams then us look poor / have off days. We create numerous chances. It feels like we’ve been let down by lacking a cutting edge.

For me, if we get relegated, a serious discussion has to be had. At the moment things are in the balance, and I trust Tony to do the right thing for the club. He sees what goes on at the club, he likely has regular chats with GP. He’s a fan like us, and will put the club first.

Potter is exactly the sort of manager that Bloom, Barber and Ashworth want. He plays a passing game and is brave at allowing youngsters to gain experience. I don't see who would be a better replacement for the club and that would continue to work towards their long-term goals

This is probably where I’m at. I wouldn’t sack him if we go down but if by Christmas we were mid table or lower in the Championship and not looking likely to challenge for promotion then that would be time to change for me.

Pragmatically I would like to hear from the club about how the plan is going to be altered and improved to achieve success.

The question for me is if not Potter then who?
I know that this information will not be forthcoming so while the club continue to have faith in this project then I will back it.

Having said that I will continue to be frustrated with many things about the current set up. I am just not convinced that a new manager/head coach will solve our problems. As is demonstrated on this board, there are several things that are contributing to our current League position.

Let's hope we turn it round.

I agree we are not great upfront then we never have been in the PL what did Murray score 10-13 in our first season can’t remember so has anything really changed? Maupay will probably get near ten or so over the season. You also can’t predict that in each of those games had we took one or two more chances we would of won, the likes of Liverpool hardly got out of third gear.

Harry Kane misses sitters that’s football your argument for blind faith in Potter seems a little simplistic it can’t all be down to we missed a sitter today.

My take is, not very surprisingly, that he should stay regardless if the team stays up or goes down, but it depends a little bit on how the spring looks. Going down with 25 points or 35 points are different things.

If Brighton stays up, results need to be more stable by christmas or he should go/get sacked. If Brighton goes down, the target should be top two but any less than top 6 and he should go/get sacked.

You cannot ignore the stats. The points tally only shows part of the picture. Sure it's the one that ultimately matters, it is also the one that people with a short attention span focus on. The fact of the matter is that in many aspects of the game the team is performing with real quality. It's not even the so called final third that is the problem, it's the final seconds. We are a good side that has great difficulty in converting quality chances. We do not have a stable, clinical forward pairing, something that many on here were screaming about pre season. It was decided that we needed to develop what we have, but clearly more time is needed. Potter cannot be blamed for Maupay missing sitters and penalties, or the team hitting the woodwork 5 times in a game. There is a reason these guys get 2m a year and they are clearly not holding up to their part of the bargain. Every time we put pressure on the opposition Potter has done his job, the rest is up to the players. Re the team selection against Arsenal, yeah that one was questionable, as was his dedication to Ryan. But on the whole GP is doing his job.

You make some valid points but 'on the whole GP is doing his job' is ridiculous. His job is to win football matches. He isn't doing that.
