I think there's been a rape up there!

No matter how many times I watch that scene it never fails to raise a chuckle :lolol:

They're still funny even after having seen some episodes 4 or 5 times.

Haven't seen it for years and I'd always thought the scene where Brent goes from the Diana song into Every Breath You Take was the funniest bit of comedy I'd ever seen. Watching it last night, there's just so much gold - the bit where Brent goes on about the dog with his bone looking at his reflection in the water and the exchange with the trainer bloke over it is priceless.

I think the same about fawlty towers, and most of the monty python series, I think the office is brilliant though.

Could not agree more. I remember kids coming into school the day after a Monty Python program doing really shite impersinations of it. Both simply not funny. Having said that the Life of Brian is just about the funniest film ever.

No but I've never seen The Godfather Douglas and I'm a better man for it. Now get yerself down to the Seven Sisters Country Park before they flood the place! And make a call from that green telephone box while you're at it.

Indeed, far more entertaining.

The big problem I have with The Office is Gervais. He thinks he's clever, he thinks he's funny and he thinks that he writes clever comedy. I disagree with him on all three of those fronts.

For my money (although I'm only 25), Ronnie Barker was writing much funnier and cleverer stuff 30 years ago (his minister/spokesman/newsreader type monologues for a start off), and Gervais is not fit to lick his shoes. Also, while Gervais can do scripted stuff, he dies on his arse when forced to do any kind of improvisation, as anyone who remembers him utterly embarrassing himself when asked to fill some time before the next act was ready at Live Earth can testify.

Also, I tend to find that The Office is found to be funny by a lot of people because some kind of social convention dictated that it IS funny and to think otherwise marks you out as some kind of idiot.
Have you ever worked in an office fruity old boy? Having met you I would imagine the subtleties and the irony's of 'The Office' may pass you by. But hey, each to thier own!

I am perfectly capable, thank you, of picking up on, and appreciating, subtlety and irony.

Regardless of that, I find Gervais utterly unfunny and the show similarly so.

I think it's genius. Gervais can sometimes come across as a bit full of himself in interview but his comic timing as Brent is flawless.

So many little things I love about The Office: Keith's deadpan delivery, the computer techie's rant about Bruce Lee films, the night out in Chasers, I could go on.
